Which Style Was Used For a MIDI Recording?

I have a MIDI file that I created using the Genos2 MIDI Quick Recording feature. How can I tell which Style was used to make this recording?

The Style area on the main screen does not reflect that when I am playing back the MIDI file.

I am hoping that there is an easier answer than decoding the Sy*** messages.

Midi file doesn't contain that info. At recording midi just records notes as they come, regardless from where they come.
So, the only solution that comes to my mind, is to search for style manually by comparing with midi.

Recording a midi in Quick Recording on Genos -> the style code will be included in the midi file, if a PRESET style was used.
You can find it by using MixMaster ListView.

This works NOT for User styles or styles from the expansion packs.

Thanks, Etienne.

That's good news, except that I just loaded the MIDI file into MixMaster, And the message is there, but it does not display the name of the Style.

The MIDI file was created on a Genos2.

The Style is a Preset called JazzQuartet.

You can download the MIDI file via this link.

Hi Michael,
You need to select the correct instrument.

Hi Michael,

If "Genos 2" is not yet selectable in the menu in MixMaster (as can be seen in Etienne's picture), you would first have to add the instrument to the "User Instruments" list in "Options > Open Instrument Manager" using the "Add Instrument" button.

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.

Just load the MIDI on the Genos, and the style is sutomatically selected by the keyboard.  BUT ONLY IF T IS A PRESET STYLE! If not, you have to search for t the hard way. Been there, done that😀

That did the trick. Thanks, Chris.
