genos voice list

i have tried to import genos voice list and it comes up wrong format but its a txt file any ideas

If your instrument is a Genos 1 or 2 (A5000, SX600, SX700, SX900), then you can download a new copy of the file from:

https://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/genos/downloads.html

The link to the file is near the bottom of the page. It is distributed as a ZIP file:

MIDISongtoStyle_VoiceList_V1.01.zip

So, you will need to unzip to get the actual text file. The text file(s) are stored in a directory named "VoiceList".

Do not touch/read/use anything in the directory named "_MACOSX". That directory contains file meta-data which is only meaningful to the Macintosh operating system. BTW, you may have tried to use a file from this MacOS directory and gotten the format error. Other people have been burned this way!

We need a bit more info. 

Where are you trying to import it to.
Which voice list are you referring to. Is it the voice list for use with the Midi to Style program or is it the voice assign number list for the keyboard.

Hi Wim,

pj's link leads to the current Genos(1) download site. And there the link "Voice List for MIDI Song to Style" (under "Other Downloads") leads to the current version 1.01 of this zip file.

Your browser may be using a cached version of the Genos download site. In that case it would probably help to clear the browser cache and access the link again.

You could also use the corresponding link from the Genos2 download site:

Or alternatively use the following direct download link:

Hi Colin,

Did you follow pj's instructions in the second post above? After unpacking the zip file "MIDISongtoStyle_VoiceList_V1.01.zip" I have no problems importing the individual .txt files contained in it into the "MIDI Song To Style" program (under "Edit > Import Voice List").
