What are the best eq and compressor settings for the sx 700

Thnx in advance

hello Ab,
There's no "best" EQ/Compressor setting: the setting you make depends on music and on your personal taste.

Bogdan is correct.  The best beginning settings generally are the settings Yamaha sets by default.  The settings you use will be determined by the room your SX700 is in, and your personal taste.

Many of the "best" EQ settings I see folks post will actually make your system worse, since they are amplifying bass frequencies that the SX700 internal speakers are not capable of reproducing.  So much of the limited power of your amps is going to that, and is not available for large transients in the frequency range your speakers CAN reproduce.  The same is true to a lesser extent in the treble range.

The internal speakers of the SX900 will only reproduce frequencies down to about 63Hz.  Below that the speaker response drops off a cliff.  So boosting bass below 63Hz robs your system of needed amplifier power.

I have never measured the speakers on a SX700, only the SX900, so I'm not sure if they are the same.

Good luck,

-this! Asking for EQ settings is like asking "which is the best country song": everyone has his favorite.

-true! And not only that: it will also add the distortion in the frequency range that speakers otherwise can reproduce properly.

SX700 and SX900 have different speakers and different amplifier solution -SX900 is expected to sound better. Frequency range however, is probably the same, because woofers have the same size and both have the same enclosure (keyboard housing).
