Hello group,

I can't find on Yamaha Canada website link for warranty extension.
As I understand, from Yamaha USA site we would need to register to get additional 3 years (on top of 2 standard years).

Am I getting all this wrong perhaps? 🤷🤓

Thanks

Hi Akki,

As far as I know, only Yamaha Europe gives this "warranty extension" to 5 years when purchasing Genos2. This is very simple here: To register (in my case on the Yamaha Germany site), you simply log in to your Yamaha user account (or create a new user account), go to "My Products", click on "Register new product", enter Serial Number, purchase date and dealer name, and you're done. The warranty expiry date will then automatically be displayed (which is 5 years after the purchase date entered).

As far as I know, Yamaha USA only shows the purchase date after registration is completed, but not the expiry date of the warranty. Therefore I suspect that this extended warranty does not exist in the USA.

Regarding Yamaha Canada and all other countries worldwide, I currently have no information about an extended warranty when purchasing Genos2.

I think it would be best if you contact Yamaha Canada support or your dealer in Canada directly about this.

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

My understanding is that Yamaha warranty in USA is one year from purchase date (I know this because i had Genos-1 repaired and called Yamaha USA).  This happened a couple of years ago and the warranty was one year.  Not sure if that has changed lately.

thanks

Interesting.
Not sure why they have different warranties in diff countries .
Looks like in Canada Warrenton for both G1 and 2 is 2 years:

Hi.
Extended consumer warranty (5 years) is something decided in the European Union (EU) parliament and applies as far as I know in all EU countries.
Factory warranty is usually 1 or 2 years, then the EU's requirement for an additional warranty from manufacturers / suppliers comes on top. The additional warranty usually applies to products and items that are intended to have a minimum duration (shelf life) of 5 years or more.
There are also other variations. Certain suppliers (brands) also provide longer warranties, e.g. 7 years, and some products have something they call a lifetime guarantee.
