Once again a warm welcome here to the PSR Tutorial Forum, samp!

The following is important for performing a Firmware Update:

- Make sure that the USB stick used basically works on the SX900. Ideally it was formatted directly on the SX900. In any case, it must be formatted as FAT32.

- First unpack the downloaded zip file on the computer and then copy the unpacked .PRG update file to the USB stick. Note that the file is copied to the root directory of the stick, NOT to a folder on the stick.

- Connect the USB stick to the switched off SX900.

- Press and hold the STYLE START button while turning on the SX900. Only release the START button when the black Boot Loader display appears.

- Follow the instructions on the screen. (Normally the START button must now be pressed again.)

- When the update is finished, the SX900 must be restarted.

- Check in "Menu > Utility > System" whether the new version 1.11 is displayed correctly there.

- I recommend performing a system reset now, i.e. resetting the system settings to factory settings. However, this is not absolutely necessary. For a reset, please go to "Menu > Utility > Factory Reset/Backup (page 1/2)". Make sure that only "System" is ticked and touch "Factory Reset".

See also the attached screenshot.

Good luck!

Best regards,
Chris

Hi samp,

I recommend the system reset described above (immediately) AFTER the successful firmware update to V1.11. (But of course the reset didn't do any harm at the moment...;) )

The file you downloaded may be incorrect. Please download the SX900 Update V1.11 again here:
>>> https://uk.yamaha.com/en/support/updates/firm_psr-sx900.html

Unzip the zip file ("psr-sx900_v111.zip") on your computer and check in the properties whether the unpacked file ("PSR-SX900SETUP.PRG") has exactly the file size 284,609,024 bytes. (See also the attached screenshot.)

Then copy this .PRG file to USB stick and try again. If it still doesn't work, try another USB stick.

Good luck again!

Best regards,
Chris
