I thought that my Genos 2 would have better Epiano Fm tones than the MODX keyboard. I was very disappointed. Genos 2 is not as good as Motage and MODX, where these colors are real gems

FM is FM, whether it is generated by a DX7, Montage or Genos2 (assuming the same number of operators). The sound is the same.

The difference starts with effects, and the REVelation reverb makes the Genos2 FM shine compared to the original mono DX7.

Gotta ask... Genos2 kept the sampled DX/TX voices in the EPiano category. Are you comparing the new true FM voices vs. MODX? What seems to be missing?

Looking at the FM voices on MODX right now, even the "simple" FM EPiano Performances consist of two or more parts. You might need to layer two true FM voices on Genos2 to get the equivalent MODX sound. A single Genos voice enabled as RIGHT1 is equivalent to a single part Performance on MODX. Layer RIGHT1 and RIGHT2 and it's like a 2-part Performance.

If you have MODX, menu dive and look at the effects. You might be able to create something similar on Genos2. The DSP effect types are the same across MODX and Genos.

Hope this helps -- pj

Of course, Genos 2 is never close to MODX

Genos 2 has a real DX7 FM synth inside.   FM is always FM... it's the effects that make the difference.
