Yamaha Genos 2 Counterfeit?

After a long time waiting, today I ordered Genos 2 from an online store. The question is that if there could have some counterfeit products of Yamaha keyboards. Have you seen any counterfeit Yamaha keyboards such as Tyros or Genos?

I worry because some websites such as Aliexpress or Alibaba are selling a bunch of Korg Pa 5X and Genos 1.  What about if the online store sends me Genos 2 which is made from Aliexpress or Alibaba?

PS: I used Psr 910, Tyros 2, Tyros 5, and Genos 1, and now move on to Genos 2

I have never heard of counterfeit Yamaha arrangers, and it seems unlikely because it would be too difficult to manufacture such a thing. But I would avoid dodgy online suppliers for a whole host of other reasons. There is no need, there are plenty of reputable dealers eager to sell Yamaha arrangers. You know the golden rule, if the price seems too good to be true, it probably isn't true.

I think the same. If you buy from a dubious place, you still won't get a counterfeit. You either get an original product or simply say goodbye to money. If it was a super good price, then with a good discount :-)
However, if it was a common, generally known musical instrument store, I see no reason to worry.

Actually, there *are* loads of counterfeit sellers (Go to Yamaha.com, they actually warn people to be aware of them).

You're not actually buying a keyboard, it is often a scam (like selling you just the box) or it's a bidding system, which means 1 person really will get the product, and about 2000 other people get nothing.

We've been seeing counterfeit Shure Mics for *decades* (and when a customer comes in to ask why their Beta 58 mic doesn't sound as good as their friends, we show them the genuine shure mic and bag, and compare them: they look almost the same, but the shade of light blue grey differs (usually slightly more green tint on the counterfeit), and the lettering of "SHURE" on the bag is always more 'bubbly' and less sharp. And then we show them authorized local retailers, and the store they just bought it from wasn't on the list.

And there *are* counterfeit mixers & wireless mics as well.

Just an FYI, that's why if you search manufacturer's, they *all* have authorized dealers listed.

Yamaha defend their brand fiercely. Report shady vendors to Yamaha marketing for your region.

I recognize that business practices are not always scrupulous and some parts of the world are plagued by shady vendors.

As suggested, if there is a concern, order from an authorized Yamaha dealer. Call Yamaha regional support, if necessary.

Hope this general advice helps and good luck -- pj

About Shure Beta SM58A, I got a fake microphone at Guitar Center, luckily, I already have a Shure Beta SM58A at the stage. When I hook up the new one, this needs more gain. I am very confused that mine is fake or Guitar Center's one is fake. So I returned it, then buy directly from Shure Website.

For Yamaha products, I bought a PSR910 at Guitar Center, Tyros 5 in 2015 from eBay, Genos 1 in 2017 from an online store no doubt. However, when visit some websites such as Aliexpress or Alibaba, I feel worried when buying Genos 2. I am sure that about 50% of you buy from online store. BTW, the dealer is shipping my Genos2, hope that there will be nothing wrong with my keyboard.

Thank You, I check from https://au.yamaha.com/en/dealers/dealer_locator/index.html . The dealer I bought seems to be on the list.

I have to say I'd be very suspicious of these sites. A pop up has just come up on my phone from Alibaba offering a Korg Pa4x for £675 UK.

No.... No way!  Just a comical price.

At that price in the UK I'd be in the car and off to buy it right now.

The shipping time is about 4 weeks, but as for returning it.... To China... Yeah, good luck with that!

I don't want to burst your bubble, but it will be interesting to see what arrives.

No, I didn't buy from Alibaba. I bought from a US online dealer. The question: if this dealer imports items from Alibaba then sells to us.

Divemaster

Hi... No I wasn't suggesting that you did, but I do hope that you get your keyboard.
It's strange that a number of ads about Korgs and Yamahas have started to appear though.

Now if they were well known dealers I'd understand it, but they are mostly Chinese, and that just doesn't feel right. Gut feeling.
