The keyboard he is playing is does seem very small though ... 61 keys ?

update : on second glance it does seem to be a tilted screen in stead of a narrow keyboard ...  :-[

Yes it does seem to be a tilted screen in stead of a narrow keyboard  ;D

If it is a tilted screen, it seems to be a very wide one by the looks of it ...

Guess it is the sheet music stand🤔 ...mmm... not much more to see ... see you next week  ;D

The Classic Genos shape...

They are highlighting the piano voice again. With reverb slathered all over it ...  ::)

The video is titled "REVelation". Are they highlighting the reverb, too?

Screen? Music stand?

Couldn't bear to look at that actor who doesn't know how to shave.  ;D

 :D :D :D :D :D :D. Now we know what is big screen
Just contacted my dealer en preordered on big screen keyboard

By the looks of the chair the guy is sitting on in the video, Yamaha definitely seems to be targetting the 'home player' market with their second generation Genos  ::)  :D

It looks the same matte black to me; we don't see the screen or music stand anywhere in this...??
That light rectangle on top is simply the highlight on matte black. Casing looks incredibly similar to the current Genos, although I can't tell if the white underside remains.

I may be completely wrong but I still think it is a tilted screen. Look at the picture PJD posted.
It seems to be the backside of the top of a tiltable screen to me. The black area to the right may very well be part of the locking mechanisme to lock the screen in place when it is in its flat position....

If you try to analyze the shadow (unless it's digitally manipulated??) it doesn't seem like the keyboard is very wide compared to the shadows of the player, chair, or stand. Maybe also a 61 keys ... we will know more next week??
In any case, Yamaha keeps us entertained with its guessing games  ;D

I did, but I took a look again at that spot in the video, and you're *right*... that's not *wide* enough to be the back of the keyboard; it has to be *something* popping up.

*edit* hahah you came to the same conclusion in your original post, that's too short (not wide enough) to even be 61 keys; which I also originally thought it was showing.

Original comment rescinded! Well, I'd be both excited and apprehensive (makes repair work a nightmare, at least it did on the old Tyros casing) but having a screen you can't read because of a spotlight on you also sucks, so something had to be done.

Yama

It looks like it is a wide panel, perhaps a wide screen to allow better editing, especially style editing :)

By looking at the relevant distance from top of the "panel" to his hands, it suggests a narrow keyboard as I mentioned in my comment on the first teaser!

In both teasers emphasis is on the Piano sound, one would expect an 88 key version! Been waiting for that so long...but apart from revealing the same Genos curved shape, not much of a REVelation, suggesting it will be the plastic casing again :(

Maybe not a Genos, something different altogether.

-good job.
I know it's subjective, but I hope SX700/900 successor won't have that same shape.

Screen? Music stand?

This "ridge" puzzles me.

The size seems enormous. However, the whole Genos II looks very wide in the first shot. You'd only get this perspective with a wide angle lens and shooting up close. If it is the display, it looks like a 24" monitor from this point of view. :o  Is this what Yamaha refer to when they speak about "big"?

On the right side of the ridge (camera right), just above the black rectangular hole(?), you can see a horizontal black line, like the ridge took a hit and cracked.  ???

Further right I can see one or two knobs, but the shape looks new to me.

In the second shot the ridge is clearly there. It seems to be shot with a longer lens and the size of the ridge seems more normal, not like a 24" screen.

The outer shape of the Genos II looks identical to the Genos (1), including the lighter bottom.

I do hear more REVerb on the sound, but also a FM-like e-piano sound blended in. Maybe generated by a FM engine?

Why this focus on piano? Don't get me wrong, it sounds great and I would love to play it.

Hopefully the third and fourth teasers will reveal more.  8)

Here is a close up picture from the video.
Can you imagine what is this?
Actually is very big.

Upon further viewing/ listening, doesn't that sound more like a grand + dx7 EP mixed together? Like in the MODx and original Montage?

The way they highlight "REV", I'm assuming they now have other Revo sampled voices... including the aforementioned piano? Which wouldn't make much sense in the same context of the revo drums; after all, the point was not to have repeats sound identical through sample cycling, which is great in drums, but for a piano, I can't think of anyone who wouldn't want that extra sample memory used for more dynamic layers, instead of redundant cycled samples...

Hopefully that's just their new catchphrase for the new, superior samples (like the way they started adding S.Art to all their newest samples before)

@nmiliotis; Think it's the back (support beam) of the wide plexiglass sheet music holder  ::)

They went the Tesla way and moved all buttons to a giant touchscreen

There is very little we can glean from this 12 seconds of nothing. Although, I must agree - the bottom still looks like a surf board 🤣🤣🤣.

It was already the Tesla way: powered by electricity, not internal combustion.  :D

After 6 years and the same case like the Genos , that's a big disappointment .

For me it is not the case that matters but what is inside it.

Maybe it'll be somewhat like the Technics KN-7000 which had a huge screen + controls thing,
that tilted up/down . . . ???

No argument here, Eileen 😉. I just hope Yamaha made the case and buttons more robust. Genos 1 looks great but is an embarrassment in quality. A low end Casio sold at Walmart at Christmas time is better built.

I think Yamaha are deliberately showing the Genos 1 in the video merely to confirm it is the Genos 2 that is being launched. A few doubters have been claiming that it isn't the new Genos, but some other alleged keyboard instead. I think this is Yamaha's way of confirming it's the new Genos. I can't imagine them showing that much of the new Genos this early in the teasers.

Agreed. I think using the Genos 1 as a teaser (and I think this likely) just cheapens Yamaha's image. Show us the real machine and stop the click bait. Too much of that garbage on the net. The older Yamaha management would have never agreed to this clown show.
