Why have I never heard of this???

My current style creations led me to discover these settings. I admit there are many things I don't yet fully understand. Maybe now I will have better luck and success!   Any better tutorials would be appreciated.  -charley

Not only NTR/NTT... for custom style creation, the whole SFF Edit section is crucial to understand, to make style sounding exactly as we wish.
Author of this video explains NTR/NTT pretty well, although at beginning he should have used the same (piano) voices on both channels. That way it would be easier to notice the differences in resulting key sequence. But he decided to use Glockenspiel voice on 2nd channel and so comparison can be confusing if we don't know on what we should pay attention.

The whole thing is explained good enough in Reference Manual (page 27). But funny thing is (as usually is the case with manuals), we can understand what's all about only if... if we already know what's all about  :)
What I'm saying is, the only way to learn is to try on keyboard while having manual by side.

Thanks for the great reply!

It does look pretty intense to me right now. I think I'm gonna need every possible resource with me as I delve into this!! -charley

Hi Charley --

NTR/NTT may look intimidating, but only a few settings go a long way in practice. I recommend deep diving a few Yamaha factory styles to see what Yamaha actually uses 96 percent of the time.

Also, I pulled some links together to help people get started with style files:

Hope this helps -- pj

Hi charley
Check out this playlist. In the second and third videos I tried to explain NTT/NTR. Activate English subtitles.
