Thank you for accepting me into the forum. I am grateful for the vast array of information and help available - i have learned much here already - very much appreciated.
A little about me:  Happily married, happily retired, in fact generally happy! my wife and I have been enjoying live gigs over 50 years - mostly R&B and Rock bands, many cover/tribute bands, and friends bands.  Despite that, neither of us have felt any urge to learn any instrument!  Sadly the decline in accessible venues, increasing entry/travel cost, age/health etc means since covid restrictions we rarely venture out in the evenings.
So, what am i doing here? On a whim, a couple of months back, i bought a Yamaha PSR-E473 from Amazon. Mistake Number One (ah, Fabulous Thunderbirds...) - should have visited a music store! Anyways, here i am learning from scratch. I'm doing a two-pronged attack: An online course with 'Skoove' to learn something of Piano basics, and messing about with Fake/Easy play Books on my own. I realise that i will never be any good, and i don't care - just for me, just for fun, only use headphones!
I've been checking things out since on YouTube.... lethal because i found lots of dealer demos and very helpful they are too (ahem!)... well, i fell under the spell of the big sell, and have now bought an SX900 as well. It is truly amazing,  and light years ahead of both the E473 and my ability. Just Wow!
I have read many posts on here already, and searching for an answer to an issue i have with  a connection has so far drawn blank, so will be posting a question shortly.
Thank you to Admin and contributing posters for sharing so much. Play on!

Hi stevem

Welcome, and great to have you on board.

You've obviously got loads of enthusiasm, and I hope you get to learn and appreciate that you are never too old to learn anything.
My advice, as you have an SX900 is to read both manuals.
The Owners Manual which you will have and the
Reference Manual. You can download that one free from the Yamaha UK website.

https://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/psr-sx900/downloads.html#product-tabs

Read those, and get to know the basics of what your arranger can do.
Then learn at least a few basic chords. You will already have a musical ear unless Status Quo blew your eardrums out.
Ask away.

Keith.
No Yamaha keyboards at present.
