Midi template

Hello
I am not sure if this has been covered previously but when I alter the All Parts template on my Genos and then try to save it to a new name on the user drive it is greyed out. Can anybody please advise me.

Hi Mike,

Please first check which Firmware version is installed on your Genos (in "Menu > Utility > System > Version"). The current version is 2.13.

In version 2.10 there was exactly this problem that under certain circumstances the Save icon in the MIDI display was grayed out. Alternatively, you can touch directly on the name of the current template (e.g. "All Parts") to bring up the File Selection display. Then touch "File > Save".

However, I recommend updating to V2.13 as soon as possible. Here, saving User MIDI templates works again as usual directly via the Save icon, and other problems have been fixed.

I am currently on 2.10 so I will update as advised.
I did try saving on the All Parts template but this greyed out too.

Hi Mike,

Of course, you cannot save "over" the Preset template "All Parts". As I said, touch the name box "All Parts" to open the File Selection display. You first are in the Preset area. Then touch the "File" icon and navigate to User (= User drive). There you should be able to save your User template. (You should enter a new/changed file name.)

By the way, our forum member Casper (ckobu) found a workaround for this MIDI bug in V2.10 back then:

However, the behavior was obviously not the same on all Genos. In my case, it worked as I described above.

But after the update to 2.13 it definitely works correctly again.

I installed the latest version 2.13 last night. The save function is no longer greyed out thank you. However, when I try to save a template with a new name I get the message "Cannot save because the number of files has already reached the maximum capacity"
Can anyone help please?

Hi Mike,

As with all Yamaha PSR-S/SX and Tyros models, the Genos can store a maximum of 10 user MIDI templates. If you have already reached this number, you would have to either delete at least one user template that is no longer required or overwrite a user template with the previous name in order to be able to save the current MIDI settings.

However, you can save the current User MIDI templates as a single file at any time and load it again later if required. You can manage any number of sets, each with a maximum of 10 user MIDI templates. To do this, go to "Menu > Utility > Factory Reset/Backup > page 2/2 > Setup Files > MIDI > Save / Load buttons". See also the attached screenshot.
