Sound setting for bass & treble

Is there a global setting to adjust the treble and bass of all sounds (style, voices, multi's etc), or must I only be able to adjust them individually in the mixer assigned to each style/registration? Problem: my speaker sound system has too much bass even when I try to lessen the bass response to minimum through my speaker controls.

Yes, just select the mixing console and tab to EQ, there you can edit and save the settings to a custom setting, which will remain the same every time you fire up the keyboard.

Good luck,

Would that mean I am also changing the bass, for example, on any registration already in memory as well; or are registrations and preset styles independent of my mixer settings on a global basis?

Hi Rick,

With the Master EQ you can freely adjust the overall sound of the Genos to your liking.

To do this, call up the Mixer display as usual, e.g. via "Menu > Mixer" or via the "Mixer" shortcut in the Home display or via an assigned ASSIGNABLE button (by default Assignable button "A"). In the Mixer go to the "Master" tab. There you will find the Master Compressor and Master EQ. Also see the attached screenshots.

First, make sure the Master Compressor is set to the "Natural" preset. This gives you a light, unobtrusive compression of the overall signal, which is optimal for most applications.

Then go to Master EQ. Here you make sure that the preset "Flat" is set first. This is the neutral setting you can use as a starting point.

The Genos Master EQ has 8 independently adjustable bands, whereby the center frequency of each band (green numbers "80Hz", "250Hz", etc.) is adjustable (!).

To attenuate the low frequencies, turn the Gain controller at 80Hz and/or 250Hz slightly anti-clockwise from the center position "0 dB".

If necessary, you can slightly increase the high frequencies with the 4kHz and 8kHz Gain controls. To add more "airiness" (brilliance), you can set the frequency to around 10kHz or 12kHz on the rightmost band (just touch the green frequency value).

I recommend leaving the remaining frequency bands, i.e. the Mids, at 0dB for the moment. If you "screw around" here unnecessarily or without the necessary background knowledge, the overall sound often gets worse.

By the way, I recommend making the mentioned settings preferably when playing with Preset Styles and their OTS.

If you are satisfied with the Master EQ settings you have made, you can (should) save them as a User Preset. To do this, touch the "Save" icon.

You can find important information about Master EQ / Master Compressor in the Genos Owner's Manual on page 102 and in the Genos Reference Manual on pages 125/126 and 130.

You can download all Genos manuals as PDF here:

P.S.
For the sake of completeness: In the middle 6 Master EQ bands there is also a "Q" control. This parameter determines the bandwidth of the relevant frequency band. The higher the set Q value, the narrower the bandwidth, i.e. less influence on the frequencies above and below the given center frequency. The (default) lowest possible Q value of 0.7 corresponds to the largest possible bandwidth. A higher Q value, on the other hand, is used, for example, to reduce or remove a certain interfering frequency in the narrowest possible band, so that as few neighboring frequencies as possible are affected. In your case, however, I recommend leaving all Q controls at the value 0.7 for the time being.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

The settings you make on the Master EQ tab are applied *after and on top of* everything else you have set up in voice set, registrations etc.
