Hello,
Not sure if the category is correct...
I'm looking for the voice (Flute) which is used e.g. in Peter Gabriels sledgehammer. I think it came with one of the first Corc samplers in the 80s.
Have I overlooked this voice or can I download it somewhere?

Best regards
Marco

If you load up the 80's synth rock style on T5/Genos/PSRsx900, the OTS for variation D will automatically call up a Shakuchi (and often pan pipes in unision).

Can anybody tell me page and the corresponding letter for the 80s synth rock style Mark mentioned, please?

Hi Marco,

on Tyros5 you will find the "80sSynthRock" style as follows:

Style category "Pop&Rock" > P3 > E button

When you press OTS #4 button, you can play the "Shakuhachi" Voice in Right1 part.

By the way, you can also call up the "Shakuhachi" voice as follows:

- Select the desired keyboard part (e.g. Right1).
- Press Voice category "Woodwind".
- Go to P5 and press the H button.

Note that an OTS voice may sound different than the preset voice of the same name (because the OTS data may contain different voice set / effect settings than the preset voice in question).

Best regards,
Chris

Hello together,
I found the Shacuhachi as an UVN voice, which makes the sound used by Enigma, Peter Gabriel, and so on.
A demo can be found here:
http://mlb-musiklehrerberater.com/downloadshop/de/software-sounds-styles-registrierungen-etc/169-shakuhachi-uvn.html
Here you can buy the voice for 13 Euro, which, at the moment, is 13 USD too.
Unfortunately the online job is in german, so if anybody wants to buy the voice and needs help, just send me an Email.
With best regards and
Happy playing
Marco

Hi Marco,

As far as I know, this well-known Shakuhachi flute sample originally came from the hardware sampler "EMU Emulator II". Peter Schips (CMS Sounddesign) offers this voice on his website for free. However, the freeware voices offered cannot (any longer) be downloaded directly there, but you must first register free of charge on the site, then place the free voice(s) in the shopping cart and carry out a normal "purchase". A short time later you will receive an e-mail containing the relevant download links.

You can either import the .ppf file in question into the YEM with "Import Pack" or (which I recommend) import it into an existing Pack (or a previously created, new empty Pack) with "Import Content".

By the way, there's another similar voice on the CMS site, which is "Japan Shakuhachi".

Here are links to the relevant product sites (including YouTube Audio demos):
>>> CMS EMU Emulator II Shakuhachi Freeware - Audio Demo - YouTube
>>> CMS Japan Shakuhachi Freeware - Audio Demo - YouTube

And here is the link to the complete CMS Soundesign "woodwind" freeware site:

Best regards,
Chris
