Hi all,
Sorry if this kind of topic is placed in the wrong board. Is it possible to do some style modifications, such as revoicing parts, changing drum sets, equalising channels, etc, via a pc with screen reader? I tried some utilities but their label is weird, there are numbers in different lists. Here's a quick example, let's say i want to change a rock kit to the sx900's rock drum kit. How can i do this? Thanks in advance for your replies!

pst (pianist); pcs(piano combo); sst (session); prs (pro); bcs(basic); fps (free play) and scp (dj style).

Hi
Style editing on a computer can be done in many different ways and with different programs. Check out these two videos and I think you'll get all the answers.

Hi pika-san,

Changing the Voices of the Style Parts (and then saving the changes as a new Style file or in a Registration) is also relatively easy directly on the keyboard. Unfortunately, this does not apply to visually impaired or blind users if a keyboard with touch screen operation is used (e.g. PSR-SX900/700 or Genos).

A suitable PC program for Style editing would be "MixMaster v21r1.10". Unfortunately I don't know if it supports Screen Reader programs. Have you already tested this program in this regard?

Hi Chris,
I'll have a look at it, it sounds interesting!

It looks like i have to connect the sx900 via USB

That's right. Only in this way can you hear everything you do with Style on your computer.
To properly connect the keyboard to a computer, you must install the USB MIDI drivers and insert the instrument definition for the SX900

Hello.

Take a look at my YouTube channel. I have a few tutorials about style creation.

You can do everything you ask easily direct in your keyboard. It's easy, fast, and the results are great.

Hi

Take a look at http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/software.htm and at http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/more_software.htm
Lots of software programs for Yamaha keyboards listed there.

Hi Jorgen,

can your programs be used with Screen Reader programs (as used by the visually impaired or blind people)?

Jaws is the most common screen reader program, at least here, and I guess we just have to try our screen readers and magnifier programs on apps such as Mix Master and see if they work.
Compatibility between screen readers and other pgograms is essential, but oh, so often it fails!! Or everything is fine, until there comes an update, and  you suddenly sit there unable to read anything.

Another thing I can help you, if you want, I teach online classes about yamaha keyboard features. I can easily teach about modifying and tweaking styles.

If you have interest, just write to my email pedro@eleuterio.com, I will be glad to help you. You only need a notebook near your keyboard.

Regards.

Best regards,

Hi
I am not familar with the requirements for programs which can be used with screen reader programs.
If this requires extra code in the programs these will not work as I have not programmed any "extra" code.

Thank you for your quick response, Jørgen!

Then it is probably best for the users concerned to simply try out the respective programs and test whether they work with the Screen Reader program used.

@all
Another "hurdle" (for visually impaired or blind users) could be that the so-called "Java Runtime Environment" (JRE) must also be installed on the PC for some of Jørgen's programs. (See the notes for the individual programs on Jørgen's website.)

So i guess that the best option would be cakewalk or mix master...

I've already managed to copy a session to another of the same style directly on the keyboard, but I forgot how to do it.
I know it's on the style assembly screen. If memory serves, the s910 has two screens: One to select the style (in case you want to copy it from another style). Pressing the exit button will go to the screen where you choose the channel to be copied (I won't
know precisely which buttons select each channel). At the end, press the letter e to execute.
The revoicing part can be done using the mixing console and editing the velocity of some notes, it's one of the 5 tabs of the style creator. On the s910 it's the last one if I'm not mistaken.

For us the ideal would be to create the styles directly by the computer using the keyboard as a midi controller.
I tried an experiment creating a midi in Reaper and inserting markers such as maina, mainb, endinga etc, but I couldn't run it on the keyboard.
I don't know what I did wrong.
But if it worked, it would be a very good and affordable possibility.
Greetings,
Gabriel

Hi Jørgen,
As mentioned in another thread:
https://www.psrtutorial.com/forum/index.php/topic,62607.0.html

I tried to use one of your programs to block the channels of the styles created by me from editing, like Yamaha styles do.
Unfortunately it was not accessible for interaction with my screen reader.
It's a shame because I'm going to need a lot of this software and its other features, including a course on creating styles on the computer that I'm planning to do with a Brazilian programmer.
With its simplest programs I can even do something at some point, but this is not the case with this one, which has many checkboxes, combo boxes and other elements of the interface without identification (label) for the screen reader. Then it really gets very complicated.
The screen reader I use often is NVDA, which is free and open source and has support for java applications that use Access Bridge.
I'll test it with Jaws to see how CASM edit behaves on it, but I'm sure it won't be much different.
If you are considerate and willing to think carefully about the accessibility of your programs for use by the visually impaired users, I could help by referring friends of mine who are blind programmers and could even participate here in the forum to talk a little more about Access Bridge.

For now, here's an article talking more about it:
https://docs.oracle.com/javase/accessbridge/2.0.2/introduction.htm
Remembering that this has existed in java for at least 16 years.

Regards,
Gabriel
