Think I posted this question on the wrong section   I have never used midifiles on any keyboard I have had   But I have been told that if i use Yamaha mididfiles on the Genos I can interact with them either by introducing styles or playing along in some way similar to styles
I am not interested in using then to listen to a song or even as Karaoke
Any advice??

Midi Files on the keyboard you can mute any track, so by muting the melody you can play the meoldy yourself with voice of your choice to the midi backing.
The score will show on keyboards screen.

hope this helps

Can I hijack this question to ask if you can play a style as well as a right hand voice whilst playing a midi file on a T5   Thanks    Val

Chesterkins and Valbess,

You can do many things with midi's.
As Graham mentioned, you can mute any tracks you want in a  Midi and play those parts yourself. You can also make a registration and revoice the sections you want to play, or find a sutiable voice that is the same as the original Midi. In the registration you can also attach the midi to  it and have it start as soon as you touch the left hand keys. The possibilities are endless.
If you need help actually doing this just ask. It's no hard to do.

mazydazydinah,

All you have to do is have the midi cued up in the player and memorize it to the #1 registration button. As long as you don't move the midi file the link will remain.
If you want it to start when you play with your left hand, make sure in the player that the chevron arrow is selected and rememorize your registration. That will make it will start as soon as you play a note with your left hand. If you hit fade on the genos the Midi will fade as well.

To Yamaha, a midi is a "song". To have it in a registration, load the midi, memorize the registration ensuring the Song box is checked.

Normally, midis would fade out by themselves, but if not, you could try the Fade function. You can assign Fade to any button you want.
