Hi Patrick,

I removed your attachment for the following reason, as referenced in our "Posting Guidelines".

"Attachments

In some cases the use of attachments may be an appropriate way of sharing files and information. There is a limit on the size of attachments. For any single attachment, the maximum file size allowed is 0.5 MB's.  Up to 3 attachments, totaling less than 1.5 MB's, can be added to a single post.

There is also a constraint on the kind of files allowed as attachments enforced by monitoring the files extension (file type). Allowable attachments include:
- bmp, jpg, jpeg, gif, mpg, png, xls, xlsx

Please do not circumvent this procedure by modifying the file type extension name of a non-allowed file type with one of the allowable file type extension names, which will result in the attachment being removed."

Good Golly  What a post!

I've spent hours looking for a working non-virus infected file.   Can one still legally buy this program anywhere?  I'm very skittish when it comes to pirated software. Thanks    -charley

andyg

@rattley Even if you could buy it, you couldn't activate it, that's the problem.

I'm definitely not in favour of using cracked copies of software, but if you've bought and paid for the software, some way of activating it if necessary would be useful. Klaus Grosser died in March 2021, and the ability to get that second PIN died with him.:(

I actually have Styleworks Universal on a PC running XP - the installation is 12 years old and still not crashing! When I installed Styleworks on a new PC with no floppy, Klaus not only gave me a free upgrade but also the second PIN via email. And then later updated my version again to allow conversions for Roland Atelier organs. Should that XP installation fail, I might consider reviving an old laptop just for Styleworks, installing XP and trying a Keygen, then thoroughly disinfecting the system.
It's not what you play, it's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Great discussion all.

This exemplifies the need for robust external style creating software. Creating styles on the Genos may be easy for some but it is still very clunky and awkward to edit for most. If those who can create good styles on the Genos can do it well, think what they could produce if they were given decent PC or Mac software. Let's hope Yamaha steps up to this plate in Genos 2!!
"Learn" your music correctly, then "practice" it. Don't practice mistakes because you'll learn them.

The idea of using KeyGen is for people who bought the program(s) and need to reinstall StyleWorks or Style Factory on a new computer.

You can get a clean copy here: https://www.filehorse.com/download-keygen/download/  I tested it.  The original download has a virus, but this new version does not.

Pirating software is illegal, but in this unusual situation, it's the only way to keep the programs running that Klaus produced.  I posted my research some time ago (see link above in Reply #20) and stated I struck out on finding anyone who owns the copyrights to Klaus' software.

Hi Joe.
Does the keygen downloadable really work for EMC Styleworks?
I was lucky to get new pin from Klaus for a clean install a few months before he passed away, so no urgent need just now. But just in case...

Joe H

GJ,

I have ran the program, but I haven't test it to see it will generate correct a PIN 2.  The way it works is you set it to generate numbers only and set it to a 6 digit number.  When I click on Generate, it generates a 6 digit number.  If I keep clicking on the Generate button it will display a new number each time.  I have contacted someone in Germany who successfully generated a PIN2 for me last year.  I don't have a need to do this currently, because my copy of Style Factory is running OK.  I have a second computer I could test this new KeyGen program on but I'm waiting for a response from the guy who helped last year.  When I get more info I will post an update.

Just a quick look at the source code, it appears to just generate random numbers, not a Keygen for Styleworks.

Joe H

Update:

I contacted the guy in Germany who helped me last year.  He was no help at all this time, but a forum member has been a big help.  There needs to be a discussion with this forum member before I (we) can post any additional info on the KeyGen software.  Patients is required.

Hi Joe,

I have the manual for Styleworks XT and I will send it to you.
Please email me your email address.

My email is in my profile. I have StyleWorks XT Universal 2000 manual. If that's the one you have, I don't need. I want the v4.9.99 manual if it exists.

Hi
Would the Style Magic man, break down EMC Styleworks and maybe incorporate some of it's tech. It seems to be out of copyright.
Just my pennies worth.

I know Bob Lazar could do it and he has back engineered alien craft ;D
Genos, I7 computer 32 gig ram, Focusrite 6i6, Cubase controller, Focal Alpha Monitors, Yamaha DXR8 Speakers
Cubase 10, Sonarworks, Izotope.  Sampletank, Arturia and Korg software.  Now IK Mixbox

The copyright is in effect for 70 years after Klaus' passing.  So I don't think Thomas at midisoft would be interested. Besides, Thomas has his own program that he will update with requests.  The latest version allows Exporting and Importing of individual style Parts, which is like Style Creator Assembly on the keyboard, but has some advantages over doing it on the keyboard, especially editing of the Parts and the whole style.

I've made some progress on the KeyGen issue, but I need to talk to the other forum member before we share any info on that.  I understand there are problems with StyleWorks running on Windows 10.  I doubt that anyone can fix that... but who knows.

I'm sure I can share once I talk to the forum member who helped me.  I don't want to step on his toes so to speak.

I'll get in touch with him later and see what he suggests.  He may want to post himself.   I'm just trying to be respectful to a person who has helped a lot.

Stay tuned!

I have Yamaha Styleworks and both pins but the latest of the last three updates rendered my Styleworks useless.
If you remember Joe , i kept having an exception and even all the help i received did not make the program work.
I have an I7 fast computer and run Win 11. Stylemagic works a treat , but i find it difficult to make a style on it and it is a little long winded.
I Had paid quite a bit of money on this program and no success with this version.
Someone said that Universal is better, but with all these cracks going on , i have been a little cautious.
I would love EMC Styleworks to work as it once did.

All the Best
John :)

John,

Try running it in compatibility Mode XP SP3.  That may help.

To do that, right-click on the .exe file, Select Properties and click on the compatibility TAB, than select XP SP3. Let us know if that works.

I now have StyleWorks 4.9.99 I installed successfully with the help of another forum member.

I have the very last version Klaus made downloadable, EMC XT Universal 4.9991.
He mentioned that he was very close to release a new version with major changes and updates, and I assume it would have been v.5
It's not any problem for me to share the file, but it won't be any help anyone that don't have a valid version to update, or a solution to disable the registration feature, or a valid PIN 2 to enter. I don't have any solution myself.
Btw, if installed on a PC not used with this software earlier, the program will run fully working for 3 or 4 days before it get more or less useless without add PIN 2.

Hello

Nice to see such effort trying to make this happen.  I never throw anything out.  I found an old hard drive I saved that has files from 2005 on it.  It probably won't help. I think I have what everyone else has. I have StyleWorks 2000 Universal and StyleWorks Yamaha 2000 installation files. I scanned for virus and installed them both. They both installed easily in windows 11 home.
Of course when I run the program it immediately asks for the registration info. I couldn't find that. I'll keep looking.   Thanks.  -charley

Greetings!

I did find a working version of EMC Styleworks and have safely installed it.  It runs and doesn't ask for any license info.  However it is only version 1.99.  The PSR9000 is the only Yamaha SFF format to choose but it works. Of course it has many other brands of keyboards to choose from. This is a great start for me until something better comes along.  Best wishes.  -charley
