Hello everybody,
My Tyros5 purchased in 2014 stoped to work a few seconds after switch on.  :'(
No sound, no light as if I turned it out.
I tried to switch on again the keyboard but nothing happened, only a little buzzy sound.
I opened the keyboard and discover that the relay on the power supply switched on for a few seconds and then disconnected.
The power supply is broken, out of service.
Is there replacement board avalaible for the power supply?
I looked for on Internet but not found any kind of such part.
I am very disapointed as I think the only way is to trough out my keyboard.
Any idea to save my keyboard ?
Thanks in advance for help.

Hi

You could try ac Hamilton in Blackpool if you are from uk.     Jim

Thanks for the answers.

I'm living in France and I seems hard to find some help from Yamaha France or Europe Service Center.

Strange as it seems, some repairing centers sale Tyros 1 power supply unit but no Tyros 5 PSU and the two power supplies are not the same.

So i'm very sad to think a 4000€ keyboard cant be repaired and goes to waste !  :'(

Most keyboards can be repaired but can some times be costly.

Hello Alain --

The Tyros 5 power supply has its own board: MP. The MP board sends an intermediate voltage (15V) to two destinations: digital regulation and analog regulation (both located on the DM digital logic board). The MP board has all of the transformers and relay control for stand-by.

The Yamaha part number for the MP board is ZE997700. Yamaha 24x7 in the USA sells the MP board for $97. The part number for the DM board is ZE958100.

Personally, I wouldn't try to repair the MP board itself. If regulation on the DM board has gone bad, that would be a rather expensive replacement (over $1,000)!

I don't mean to suggest DIY. With an expensive instrument like T5, I'd prefer to have a qualified service person handle the job. (And I'm no stranger to electronics.)

Hope this information helps.

Bonne chance -- pj

Hello pj,

I have purchased the MP board and the power supply board that is to say the two boards wich are in the power supply enclosure from official Yamaha repair center (192€ VAT and port included).

I hope to received them soon.

If i'm lucky my Tyros will be ok after the replacement of the two boards.

If this is not ok I will not send the Tyros to an official Yamaha repair center, I think another repair will be too expensive for a keyboard I own since 2014.

In this case perhaps I will purchase a Genos keyboard and hope it will be more reliable.  :)

If you already have the parts the repair may not be so costly, so I would consider getting it done by a service center!

Hi Alain,

Even if you "only" want to exchange these two circuit boards, you should still have a certain basic knowledge of electronics. You should also have the T5 Service Manual, which contains important information, e.g. regarding disassembling, block diagram, detailed circuit diagrams and description of the use of the internal Test program. The latter should definitely be used after the circuit boards mentioned have been replaced.

Regarding the service documents, you are welcome to contact me via PM (Personal Message).

Best regards,
Chris

I have the basics of electronics and I have also the T5 service manual.

Do I think I can try to repair my T5.

I hope the repair will be successfull !

Best regards.

Hello Alain --

Best wishes for your repair!

If we sound conservative, yes, we are.  :D There is a wide range of technical skill and talent on the Forum. I've seen simple advice go wrong with bad consequences. So, I try to be careful when posting help. I suspect that Chris feels the same way.

Welcome to the Forum, by the way!

All the best -- pj

Keep us posted - curious to see how this goes.  Good luck with the repair!

Hello everybody,
I received the power supply boards for my Tyros 5 today and replace these two boards.
But the keyboard still doesnt work anyway.
After some investigations I discovered that the DM motherboard is out of service.
I will not try to change any other part of the keyboard, it will be too expensive and the cost will exceed the price of a second hand keyboard.
So I will purchase a Genos and hope it will be ok for more than 8 years (for information I owned Tyros 5 since 2014).
