After 5 years with my beloved S770, I am delighted to be expecting delivery of my new Genos today.

I have about 200 registrations that I have arranged to my liking on the S770, with registrations, styles, multipads, etc. Each registration bank is named as a song (thank you, Fred Smith), and tied to a custom style, multipad, etc.

My question is..........should I just take these one by one, read them into the Genos, and then upgrade as desired? Or should I take each one and modify the style in MixMaster or a similar program, and convert it to the Genos.

I am most grateful for any advice you can offer. Thanks.

Your S770 registrations will not load into Genos as they are.

But you can use the tool developed by Murray Best, "Registration Manager", to do the conversion.

When you convert your registrations, set the target keyboard as Tyros 4 or Tyros 5 in YRM.

There were a lot of changes made in the Genos registration banks that are best updated by the keyboard itself.

Genos will open Tyros registrations, once you open it on the Genos, resave to update to the Genos format.

One can do without most things, but not without the pleasure of music.

As an Interesting side note, if you use T4/T5 as Murray suggests, the file will *still* be readible by the s770. Yes, Yamaha made the s970/975 and s770/s775 capable of reading all Tyros Registrations (just not Genos). But the Genos/Tyrii (Tyroses) can not read *any* PSR registration file.

And yes, they made the sx900/sx700 so you can load Genos registrations (in addition to all Tyros's). But again, not the other way around.
