"Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" was written by Randy Brooks, the song was originally performed by the husband-and-wife duo of Elmo Shropshire and Patsy Trigg in 1979.

In the early 80's it became a seasonal hit first on country and then the top 40 stations. It wasn't long before the song was being requested all of the time during Christmas. Patsy and Elmo were soon signed to Epic records and "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" soared to the top.

It's performed with at custom style and I had to use the style creator to make special 3 bar break which is used after each Chorus.

I have finally acquired enough experience tweaking styles and recording parts into them that I was able to assemble the break needed for this tune.

I rushed this style a bit as I wanted to use it this week at a gig. It is a totally new song for me and I needed to practice singing and playing it live.

I spent a couple more hours working on the style last night. I corrected the licks I recorded into the style heard during the chorus of the song. Then I recorded the fiddle lick I played live heard during the middle of the verses into a Fill In slot.

I plan to update this link later today (11/29) with the new recording.
