Hi everyone,
I've been using registrations a lot and sometimes didn't check the transpose when saved. I'm wondering what is the difference between check/not check the transpose in RGT.
Thank you in advance.

Whatever is unchecked when memorizing a registration won't be changed when that registration is loaded.

So, if the Transpose box is checked. the registration will set your transposition. If it's unchecked, the registration will leave the transpose setting unchanged.

Thank you Fred for your quick response. I'm wondered what the advantages are if checked/ unchecked.
Thanks, Ted

I just want to point out/clarify the "If it's unchecked, the registration will leave the transpose setting unchanged." statement.

When I started, I thought that meant it would keep the transposition at 0 -- unchanged.  So that when I loaded the registration, the transposition would be 0, regardless of the previous song.  But it turns out that's not the case.

It means that the Genos will keep the transpose setting of the previous song.  So, if you were playing a song that was transposed down -3, loading the registration would leave it at -3.

But if the song previously played was, say, +2, now that same registrations would leave it at plus 2.

I've taken to leaving that one checked, so that every time I load a song, it will have the correct transposition, regardless of what song I play before it.

The rule is as follows. If Registrations are used and Transpose is only included on some songs, be sure to check the Transpose box for those songs where Transpose is 0.
Another important thing is that Transpose has three statuses, MASTER, KEYBOARD and SONG, so this should be taken into account when creating registrations.

Look like saving registration with transpose box checked is better than the other way around.
Thanks Adam and ckobu. Very appreciate your help.

Check the box if you want the registration to set the transposition.

Uncheck the box if you don't want the registration to make any changes to it.

I always set the transposition on the first button of the song. After that, I leave it unchecked in most cases. This allows me to manually change the transposition after loading the first registration, if I have a singer or other accompaniest who needs a different key.

I prefer to leave the box unticked and then transpose when I feel it needed. This allows me to select up and down my registration bank without an embarrassing unwanted change of key when not needed.

Hi Fred and Eileen,
Thank you for your advice. Seems RGT can be used in many ways.
I like Eileen's method but if I transpose one rgt on stage, the transposition will be carried over to the next rgt, which may not be good. I have to remember hitting the reset every time before open the next rgt.
I will try Fred's approach for a while.
Thanks again. Ted
