Which Styles on the site work with the SX900?

Hi Guys

Who has downloaded styles/gig disks or MFD files from the tutorial site that work OK on the SX900.  I tried a MFD converted for the Tyros4 and they sound awful on the SX-900 plus chords also sound weird (with ACC on majors work but minors and 7th's sound totally wrong!)  So far I have only used the Bonus Pack from Yamaha and they work great but it would be nice to have a few more that are "allocated to song titles"

You can take the styles you have downloaded and tweak them to work on your keyboard. It will require spending time learning how your keyboard style creator works.

Most folks use the free style packs and the ones that came with their keyboard. Then they set up registrations to alter the patterns of the styles.

For song specific styles you can purchase them from about 4 sites that are available online.

A hand full of us make song specific styles using a DAW program and/or the Style Creator that comes with your keyboard (which takes hours to produce one style).

The advantage of custom styles over a registration, the style will work when you upgrade to a newer keyboard just as it did in your old keyboard without a hitch. Yamaha always includes all the old voices from past models in their newer keyboards. So, its worth the extra work if you are gigging and reusing the styles over and over again.

Much appreciated .. as I said I tried the Tyros4 MFD's but they sound awful I might try the alternative S950 converted MFD's??

MDF is something different. All styles will work fine, but some will have to be adjusted to sound their best on your keyboard.

You have to remember that the SX900 has a lot of new styles so the MF will pick the nearest one in places. Also there are new drum kits and voices so they will not always sound good. Tyros 5 MF may be a better one to use.

The Bonus pack works perfectly and sounds good ..The MFD downloads only seem to be either Tyros4 or S950 .. the worrying thing was apart from the weird sound all my 7th and minor Acc chords wouldn't work either .  The Bonus Pack is actually quite extensive and just because a selected style says " Midnight Special" you can use it for quite a few different songs that it will fit!!
