Increasing the reverb on drum track

Hi,
I've created a midi file on computer of a drum track for a song. I've loaded this into my Genos and I want to increase the reverb on the drum track which is track 10. I've gone into mixer & increased the reverb but it's not increasing it.
I gather I must be doing something wrong. I've done it before but can't remember the process. Can anyone help?

You have to go to step edit and select track ten and alter the reverb on this track.

This should work. First obvious question would be, is there actually a reverb program assigned and is it switched on.

If you can't find reverb on this control track you can insert one and then adjust it to suit.

I can't it that way. When I spoke to Yamaha tech support a few months ago, I'm sure I had to go into mixing console but when I've done that it's not altering it.

Hi Karl,

did you create this MIDI file on the computer "from scratch", or did you just edit a MIDI file that was recorded on the Genos before (or a commercial MIDI file) on the computer?

If the former is the case: Has it been ensured that the MIDI file contains the necessary resets (GM and XG reset) as well as the setting of a certain Reverb Type and an event to set the Reverb Send Level (CC 91)?

If you want to use an Insert Effect block for the Drum reverb, the corresponding Sy*** should be in the MIDI file. (In this case the send level for the system REVERB effect block should be set to zero via CC 91).

By the way: The system CHORUS send level should be set to zero for drum channels or, if necessary, only turned up very slightly (via CC 93).


My recommendation is alwas to begin with a MIDI (Quick) recording directly on the keyboard. Then import this MIDI file into the DAW on the computer. This way you will automatically have many of the required MIDI controllers and Sy*** events in the MIDI file.

Hi Chris,
I wrote the drum part out in Sibelius, then exported it as a midi file, then loaded it into my Genos.
As it happens, it hadn't played the hihats which I suspect was because of the drum mapping so I ended up doing the drum part in style creator.
I normally work with a drummer so I've hardly used the style creator but due to lockdown, I've got extra time on my hands which allows me time to explore some of the other features which don't normally get used.
