Hi --

I just posted a voice editor for the Yamaha SHS-500 Sonogenic. The voice editor is a MIDI Designer layout. MIDI Designer is a MIDI user interface development app that runs on Apple iPad. Download the layout from:

http://sandsoftwaresound.net/sonogenic-voice-editor/

It's free. I hope to upload the layout to the MIDI Designer site eventually.

The SHS-500 Sonogenic's tone generator and MIDI implementation is very similar to the PSR-E463 and PSR-EW410. So, there's a good chance that the editor will work with E463 and E453. The panel voices are different, however, and you'll need to modify the buttons that choose panel voices.

MIDI Designer provides storage for up to twenty voices. (Somewhat confusingly, MIDI Designer calls these slots "presets.") Thus, you can store and recall your own voices using MIDI Designer.

If you would like to read more, please see the links below.

All the best -- pj

Hate to resurrect this thread, but I posted a short tutorial about customizing the Sonogenic voice editor:

You should be able to customize the editor for entry-level Yamaha arrangers since they share (roughly) the same MIDI implementation.

Have fun -- pj

Thank you very much, pj!

This is a very interesting topic.

By the way: I have installed the paid version of MIDI Designer on my iPad for a long time. It's time to do something useful with it ... ;)

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)
