Hello friends,
This is my opinion about yellow voices and my method to fix it.
Many people say the new generation of keyboards has more parameter to set and for this T4 voices stay yellow and don't work properly.
My personal feeling is that the YEM translator UVN to PPF doesn't work properly. I don't think that the SF2 file has all this parameters and UVN not.
Now the method:
1.   Make a new pack and put the original UVN file.
2.   Go in Awave and open this UVN and save like SF2.
3.   Add this SF2 to pack
4.   Make the same setting for SF2 voice like what you see on the UVN editing windows except the volume of waves where you will see for example UVN=100 SF2=53 you can go to 60 to have almost same power. Including Common settings.
5.   Test in keyboard and keep white SF2 imported file.
Regards

Mihai

Long time without any reply...
Finally, it seems that Yamaha specialists managed to limit access to UVNs (which were free).
I reinstalled my older pack which had no problem and, disaster, 60% of the voices coming from UVN have on the upper octaves anything but sound. Researched the phenomenon here is what happens.
You want to bring a UVN in the pack no problem, it works well, once saved PPF and brought back to YEM, goodbye voice from UVN.
This forced me to find a viable solution for UVN-UVF translation. Change BMP to 7z
And the results are great, at least for me. All my work will be shared for free.
Regards!

When you import an UVN in YEM packs, the icon is yellow-orange, sign that something is wrong.

Hi Misu,

a yellow/orange Voice icon in the YEM just means that this Voice is (at least partly) based on Preset samples of Tyros3/4 (when a UVN/UVD was imported) or Tyros5/Genos (when a PPF was imported).

Such Custom Voices can either use Preset samples of the original keyboard ONLY, or they combine both Preset samples and external samples, or they use external samples ONLY.

Some Custom Voices actually use external samples only, but the Elements that have originally used Preset samples have been removed later from the Voice. In this case, the Voice icon in YEM is still yellow/orange. But, to my knowledge, this does not matter. The Voice can be used as normal.

P.S.
The PC program "Awave Studio" does not support settings regarding Preset samples in Tyros2/3/4 Custom Voices. Therefore, when you open a TVN/TVD Voice (Tyros2) or UVN/UVD Voice (Tyros3/4) in Awave Studio and then re-save the Voice in UVN (or SF2) format, the included settings for the use of Preset samples are automatically removed. (And when you import such a "cleaned" UVN/UVD Voice into YEM later, the icon shouldn't be "yellow/orange" anymore. :) )

Best regards,
Chris

Hi djp,

as mentioned by Misu, you have to change the extension of the downloaded files from .BMP to ".7z".

To open such ".7z" archive files it is best to use the "7-zip" file archiver. I have installed the latest version "21.00 alpha" and use it without problems. (You can also install the latest "stable" version 19.00.)

P.S.
Misu's .7z files contain .docx files that can be opened e.g. with Microsoft Word, Open Office, Libre Office, Google Docs or Word Viewer.

Best regards,
Chris
