With respect to the absence of the PSR SX900's aftertouch, is it something most of the owners desperately wish it had? I'm thinking of purchasing soon, and am impressed with all the other features.

Of course it would be nicer if AT was on it. I thought it sounded nice in my previous Genos and T5 when using some instruments. But the use is still quite limited. So the lack of this is certainly no obstacle (for me then) to be very satisfied with the SX900. Working a little with the other effects and / or with the joystick and/or footpedal camouflages the lack of aftertouch.
My best regards,
Ton

Thx ton 37, that's what I needed to help firm up my decision to purchase later today.

I can tell you that I have two Genos keyboards and haven't ever used the aftertouch feature on either. But OTOH, I'm not a seasoned professional either. Just one players experience.

Toril: Unboxing Event will be Thu when delivered. And this is one thing I will NOT be adhering to social distancing guidelines!! ;D

Yamaha wouldn't want to sabotage Genos' sales numbers. I'm no marketing expert but, SX900 is already so close to Genos that it might have already taken Genos' share numbers considering how expensive Genos already is.

Past Instruments: PSR-E413

Hi Janey999, the sx900 is a powerful tool regardless of what you want to use it for.
If you know some MIDI programming, you can control both keyboards (sx900 and DDeck) through the MIDI-DIN 5PIN ports, which are behind each instrument, and then make the corresponding configuration so that one keyboard controls the other, or also combine the two sounds from both sources.

it's just a matter of sitting down calmly and looking into the characteristics of each keyboard.
If you achieve a good configuration you will obtain a powerful sound on both plates, this also depends on other factors such as: Equalizer, and Effects.

I hope this gives you some light on what you are looking for.

Regards.
