Hi Joe,

Richard is now working on a video.
This video will show all the ins and outs of his prog, I guess.
Super !

BTW, is there an S975 XGW patch available ?

Your reply would be very much appreciated.

Thanks & best wishes, Babette

Joe H

beykock,

There is no XGW patch for the S975.  The best you can do is use the S970 which will allow you to access about 90% of the S975 voices.  I've also attached a Patch compiled by Bill Grosse that includes support for the following keyboards:

T3, T4, T5, S910, S950, S770 and S970.

Thanks Bill for all the XGW patches that you have produced over the years.

:)

Hi Richard,

Thanks a lot in advance for the effort you are putting into your project and especially for the willingness to share all that creativity. I am very interested in this project of yours and eager to test (work with) it after you release it :)

Taking a lot of stuff as you so adequately put it to a (HUGE) remote control like my tv screen, a real pc keyboard and mouse instead of the (for my eyesight) often cumbersome Yamaha screen, buttons and song creator. It's guys like Murray, Michael, Etienne, Jørgen, Peter, others and now also you that make my day almost every day! Handing me an opportunity to play not only on my keyboard but also giving me access to it's extra capabilities. Or simply put: Make my (hobby) life a lot easier and more interesting. You guys broaden my world big time :D

best regards,
Peter

Hi Guys,

Happy to share what I have done.

Jorgen, you are one of the gurus I looked to for advice. Your website provided lots of great information. Thank you. I still have more questions than answers but I am slowly learning.

Regards,
Richard

Hi Rich,

I assume we have to wait for another week before your programme will be launched, right ?😉

Best regards, Babette

Wish you a fast recovery !💐

Take care, Babette

I wonder how Richard is doing ? It is so quiet.

I may hope he is feeling a lot better now and able to finish his prog soon. That would be great.

Cross my fingers, Babette

Hi Richard,

Good to hear you are feeling better. 👍👍

Hi Rich,

I hope you are feeling well !

How is your programme ?

Best regards, Babette

Richard,

I read your help file.  Is there a way to load User Styles that have been modified or even custom styles built from scratch?  I rarely use the Preset styles and know that are other folks who do that as well.  Some gigging musicians buy or modify styles and name them after a particular song.

Hi Joe,

Our friend Richard explained in one of his previous messages only " Yamaha numbered " preset styles are usable for his prog, IMHO. I might be wrong, sorry.

For the time being it is very quiet.
Maybe Richard needs much more time to finish his work.

Hi folks,

Update on Midi Maker. Sorry for the delay. I have been ill but I am better now. I having been working to finish the program and do some updates.

1. I have converted all the PSR style lists for use with Midi maker. A huge thanks to Peter Wiersba for his work with these data lists.
2. I think I have trapped most of the program bugs and fixed them, but one never knows.
3. Work on the tutorial is progressing. I am doing it in parts of 5 - 10 minutes to make it easier to digest. The tutorial should be done soon and then I can release the software.

@ Joe H - With regard to using non-standard or changed styles:
There is no way to use Midi Maker with such styles because Midi Maker and can only work with built in styles.
How are you creating the styles? In the keyboard or with software?

Regards,
Richard

Hi Richard,

I'm using both Style Creator Assembly and StyleMagic software.  But I'm thinking of trying to record directly into Style Creator and/or record phrases as a MIDI file and convert them to a style Part using StyleMagic.  The best software in my opinion would be to "Import" MIDI loops and build the style that way. It would be the same approach as Style Creator Assembly but with MIDI loops.  I could try different phrases to build a style. I've made several appeals to the author of StyleMagic but he hasn't responded to my idea so far.

Maybe you could find a way to add/import custom styles, whether they be original custom made styles or purchased commercial styles from Yamaha or a 3rd party style maker.

Hi Joe,

Richard made me clear one can only use original Yamaha numbered preset styles ( audio and midi styles, he said ).

I wonder how the audio styles will do the job.

I have found this to be a wonderful musical community and I love being a part of it so I want to share what I have with you all. If it will benefit even one person then I will be happy.

Best regards,
Richard

I will benefit, greatly, Richard.

This is really great of you to share your program ( that has taken so much of your time away from music!). I just installed producer on my Win 10 and it is a great program and it developed exactly as you said using PSR in production no as a live performance. But needs some updates of course. But in Producer one can import chord data ( with .csv file) which is the hardest part.

When I click on the link to your youtube channel, it says "This channel does not exist." Anyhow this is from 2018!

Where is the link to download your software? Isn't it under the "Backing track maker" name now?

PS. Please PM me or here let me know if you'd like to collaborate on this project with me. I have some programming and midi programming background as well!

I've written a Java program that reads a simple text-based lead sheet and generates a MIDI file which can be imported into Song Creator. Please see the example below. The MIDI file contains lyrics and chords. The chords are represented in Yamaha MIDI Meta events and the Yamaha proprietary chord format.

Hi Peter,

Have you been able to complete your Java utility?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Joe.

I think there it will (still) be a bit of work of user after import, setting the CASM data. You may import a full midi 16 channels, or 10, 11, 12 channels... There will be some work to cut/select a custom amount of channels in midi file, if you don't do that job in other DAW software.  ::) Maybe, if you prepare the midi file before that, setting markers, and other midi-specific things, it will not be hard to do in StyleWorksYA, with features present.

Barb seems to be the main contact on the forum now for Richard's Midi Maker software. The software is working fine and fairly well integrated. Richard has moved on from YouTube to Google Groups. This is the latest thread on the topic in the forum:
