Wrong speakers to compare here IMHO

This model of Edifiers are MORE expensive ....The Logi 623 is better compared against the Edifier M3600D... which are more around the same price point

Duurduur

I don't hear any difference between both systems. But the Edifier S350DB is double the price. I payed €135,00 for the Logitech and the Edifier S350DB cost €299,00 here in The Netherlands.

Yes - why not the - Edifier M3600D. ( which are around the same price as the Logitech 623's ) and in my view there is not much in difference between them.

So why they are comparing these two, I do not know???

Plus it is difficult to asses the difference in this situation, listening on-line, unless of course your listening on good speakers anyway, then you would not be looking for speakers....lol

I would try  read written reviews, talk to others or go to a store and listen to get the best information.

I notice this a lot on-line with board comparisons, equipment can be badly set up with the likes of EQ /bass, in an attempt to 'wrong foot' it against it's competitors.

I had to listened to the comparisons a good 10 times that's how close the comparisons was. I used my same speakers to make the comparison. It sounds as if Edifier has a little bit smoother base response and the mid range was standing out a little more.  Then I wanted to look at the cosmetic look of the two . There again It looks as if Edifier wins on that one. They look more stylish  with beveled edges and sleek metal knobs. I know that has nothing to do with sound but it looks like they took time in designing the Edifier. Yes the Logitech have a better price point. Wall mart is selling the Edifiers for  $259.00 right now a little under the $300.00 price which they usually sell for.

I do think the cheaper Edifier M3600D is better 'looking'  I am not keen on the timber finish myself on the more expensive S350DB
I would look around and compare pricing and spec of the 2 models in Edifier range, if that the make you prefer.
but of course it's your call.

Over the years i have had a couple of earlier Edifier models and they were really very good.

Good luck

Blackpool I ordered  the Edifier 5350D3 today. I was able to find a discount on them from Wall Mart. Wall mart  was selling them for  $259.00  compared to $299.00  Believe it or not  the Home Depot was selling them on line also . Hard to believe a hardware store was selling speakers. I guess the home Depot is widening their sales market. I ended up ordering on line from the Home depot because I  had a gift card with them for $50.00 so I used it ! I also got free shipping on the order ! Total price brought me down to $222.00 which  was ok with me.  I  thought Logitech was also good but I decided to go with the Edifier because I felt the mid range was a little more out front and the bass just a tad smoother. Also I like the looks of the Edifier which appears to me that they put a little more effort into the cabinet design build. Can't wait to get them.  Since I  use a mic at my desk top for singing the issue of  feed back  will be a concern . I think I will place the  sub under below my desktop and place the front speakers  on a shelf above my monitor .Hopefully they will be  high enough so the mic  is  not directly in front of the speakers . I'll make a post on my results once I got everything up and running . I was  at the  eyes ,ears  and noise specialist not long ago and they ran a test on my hearing . I'm 62 years old  and  I thought for sure my hearing was not going to pass the test because I never wore hearing plugs when sawing or cutting grass and listening to music  all my life but when the results came back the doctor shook his head  in amazement and could not believe how good my hearing was  for 62. He went on to say  it must be genetics ! I thank God for my hearing because  with out that  I could not enjoy music as well . As  long as I can hear left and  right I'm good  to  go . ha ha !!!

Glad you got fixed up Greg ....they will be great, i am sure!

I have always used additional speakers with my boards, it does make such a difference, even the lower end boards can sound amazing through a decent sound system ...to me it is a 'no brainer' even if you dont need the additional volume, the added 'fullness' is just perfect.

Enjoy your new toy...as and when it arrives.

Feedback with us is never a concern, because when we are recording we are both wearing headphones.

We wouldn't need to use headphones, however, the music would create a false reverb on the cd of the music and we don't want that. However, to each his own.

If you are just singing and your mic is directional and your speakers are not too loud, feedback should be no problem at all.

Glad you found what you are looking for.

Greg, Will you be using the onboard soundcard in your computer to drive the speakers or a USB interface? My ASUS PC came with audio software (attached a screenshot) that the motherboard audio is processed through to 'improve' the sound. I've mostly disabled most of the processing it does as well as set its EQ flat, otherwise what goes through it sounds very little like what I've recorded through a set of M-Audio monitors. If you're going to use the onboard sound for live use with a mic and it has EQing available in software, the EQ may help to notch out any feedback if it does occur. I'm thinking the sub-woofer might make things a bit more prone to feedback, but it may depend on the room your in and reflections of sound off the walls.
If the mic you are using has a supercardioid polar pattern, remember that there is a node of sensitivity that extends out to the rear of the mic which may be in the direction of your speakers and could potentially create some feedback.
Sounds like a good system you'll have setup. Have fun!! :)

Mark I will be using an external mixer on my desk top for my mic  controlling and for my karaoke I will be using Virtual DJ with on board bass mids and high controls.  Working on building the shelf above monitor for speaker placment and sub will go under the desk. As far as recording I always use headphones and external speakers set to off. If I was using a lap top I could get away with sitting behind the speakers which would be the ideal spot for eliminating feedback but for now I'm going to set this up on my desk top and elevate the speakers above the screen monitor and see what happens. I will post results when the speaker system gets here.

Keep in mind, everyone, that Greg does not own an arranger keyboard - he just performs karaoke. Therefore,he depends heavily upon his mixer and PC programs to produce the end product and does not have the control features our keyboards offer.

Good luck,

Just an update on my results on the Edifier S350DB.  The cabs were hefty and felt like quality made. The Sub bass was very very good . Clean and deep with no distortion. The high end was good too when playing music from the computer through them. When it came to mixing in my vocal with the music it tended to sound drowned out. It did not handle well on the high and mid end when singing with the mic ,so I returned the unit. Possible I will need a small PA Speaker for my vocal, perhaps something with a small horn or A high end monitor that can take anything that is thrown at it. So for a computer sound system for playing music off the computer thee Edifier scores Big, but for vocal  it fails in my opinion.
