Does Genos have a better MIDI sequencer than the S-975?

Hello friends :)
I recorded a song on my S-975 using a voice called Funky lead. It has a cool feature, if you hold the note you get sort of a waw effect, the voice is changing. Super Cool. BUT, when I record the song in the MIDI recorder of the 975 the effect is gone, even though i hear the effect when playing. When I play back the MIDI the effect is gone, and Funky lead is dull and boring. After several takes I gave up, fired up my Genos and recorded the song in MIDI with the Funky lead voice. When I played back the song the effect was there! A tiny bit subdued, but more than good enough!
So I wonder, does that mean that the sewuencer on Genos is better than on the 975?

I notice that DSP on some guitar voices change on the 975 when I record in MIDI. This is rather irritating.
And it made me curious. I think I mentioned this a couple of years ago also, the S970 had the same problem.

But Genos delivered the sound in the MIDI, so it got a pat on the panel and a "god job, you beloved plastic heap" from me :)

Hey Toril

The Wah Effect is produced by an insertion effect (DSP). If you playback a MIDI recording and that effect ist gone, this means that the DSP has been "stolen" (reassigned) to another part. To find out WHY this happens in your special case, more information would be necessary. A Genos has massive DSP power, enough to assign DSPs for each Song Channel and each Style Part.

So this is not a sequencer problem, and to my best knowledge the seqencers of the Yamaha TOTL and midclass arrangers are (functionally) identical.

Yes, s975 only has 4 insert dsp so there is a strong chance of losing dsp song part assignments, especially if you change panel voice because they will steal them. Genos has 28 dsp so there are enough for all the song parts and the 4 panel voices.

Thanks DerekA! I suspected something like it. But it only happens when I record in MIDI. A capacity problem then.
