Modulation Wheel

I have never used the modulation wheel  but often wondered what are its uses
Can someone give me a teach in please?

The modulation wheel usually adds vibrato to the tone(note/sound).
Look at the image in this article and imagine that the "signal" is the note(sound) without using the modulation wheel,
the "Am" is the note with some usage of the modulation wheel and
the "Fm" is with too much usage of the modulation wheel.(too much vibration or vibrato).

Modulation is changing the ratio of how many times a sound(e.g a string) is vibrating let's say in one second.
The pitch of the note remains the same,so it is still the same note.
