I saw that the sx600 is compatible with the Rec'n'Share app.

I turned on my sx900 on my cell phone and it was not recognized by the Rec'n'Share app.

Is the sx900 not compatible?

It's a brand new feature Yamaha introduced as an exclusive launch feature for PSR-SX600. The PSR-SX700, SX900, and the Genos may get it via a future firmware update as long as there's no hardware limitation for it.

Hi Julio,

the PSR-SX600 has a built-in USB-AUDIO interface. This is necessary in order to connect an instrument to the "Rec'n'Share" app via USB cable (plus an "Apple Camera Adapter" for iOS devices or an "OTG" cable for Android devices).

PSR-SX900/700, PSR-S975/775/970/770/670, Genos and Tyros models do NOT have a USB-AUDIO interface (only USB-MIDI) and are therefore unfortunately NOT compatible with the "Rec'n'Share" app.

Since the USB-AUDIO interface is a separate, internal hardware component, this functionality can unfortunately also NOT be upgraded by a firmware update.

Best regards,
Chris

It's not completely absurd that even the large PSR-SX models have a corresponding chip installed and the USB audio functionality is simply not enabled. Maybe for marketing reasons, so they have a new interesting feature for version 2.0. Of course this is all just speculation. Time will tell ...
