setting up T5 midi to control our bass players vocal harmonizer

So heres the thing.
Although the T5 has an excellent vocal harmonizer unit, the bass player in he band uses his own harmonizer with a midi cable from the keyboard to his machine.
When we set this up today for the first time, i played chords for him to vocalize with but his machine didn't recognise the signal.
So my question is this.
What do i have to set up in the T5 to ensure the signal goes through ok.
I tried plugging him into both the A and B settings on the T5 but no different.
Midi has always gone straight over the top of my head so if you can answer my question please use very simple language.

you have to make a midi setup
menu function/midi/edit/save preset and give it a name
now your preset is in user
there are also midi preset setups under presets to try

set recive midi chanel on Bassist Harmonizer on your left or right chanel
on your kayboard...
