I'm a perfectionist, especially in my music making.  I use my Genos for personal enjoyment (playing) as well as creating jingles to use in radio as well as backing tracks for my own use as a singing performer.
I will usually use Step Record to lay down the track using a Style, then the appropriate chords, section changes and all the rest.  That stuff is fine as it is precise in the recording.
Afterward, I'll lay down some melodies as part of a background within the track.  A chorus of strings, saxes, pianos etc that compliment the background itself.
My question is this: I use the Genos' built in abilities to edit these tracks but must do it note-for-note, making sure they start on beat one for example, and so-on.  I guess one would say manually quantizing is what I'm doing, though not always to the beat because of the variances in play.
Is there a PC program out there that would allow me to view the notes (not notation) that I could change to the beat position etc instead of the cumbersome way now of editing each note and spinning the wheel on the Genos up/down to the value?

Cheers

Other than DAWs MIX Master is the best I can think of right now.

Dave S,
you can use various PC programs to further process your songs and notes in them. It is important to you that when editing, you listen to all this on your Genos in order to hear all the changes exactly.
I use free Cakewalk, it's great for MIDI editing, and that's what you need. Sometimes I also use XGWorks which is more specialized for the XG yamaha standard.
This is one example where I edit various controls in Style.

The same principle applies when editing a standard MIDI file. Quantization and other basic MIDI edit is a real pleasure when using a computer and Cakewalk.

Thanks for the input!  What I do is adjust the timing (beat position) of various instrumentation.  The Chords are easy within Step Edit and having them start at position 0000 on 1:0000:1 for example.  I'm looking for a program that will let me edit the 0000 sections without having to do it tediously on the Genos itself.  A PC program where I can change the numbers by the PC keyboard is easier than using the scroll wheel on the Genos.

I'll have a look at Cakewalk.

Cheers
