Like to play fairly free (rubato) so like the idea of free play styles.
Have an E433.
Can someone point me in the right place to download  some.
Cheers Mick

As far as i am aware, there are only a handful of freeplay styles around for even the SX and Genos, so IMHO I cant see there being much, if any for E models.

Like you, i love the freeplay and 'less busy' stuff ... I tend to mute out some of the style tracks with some of the styles and this does help to provide this sort of effect, not sure if you can do this on an E series.
It works better on some styles than others and is worth experimenting with if you can.

Perhaps an E owner might provide a better answer, but in the meantime, hope that helps.

They are just normal styles really, with special arrangements, so any of the styles published on this site would in theory work.

The problem would be that the voicing would probably not work well, since the E433 may not have the voices that are needed.

Give it a shot and see how you go.

I was not aware styles on the upper range of Yamaha would work on E series i assumed they would be a different format - I did not know they were SSF2 ?? You live and learn.....  + re- voicing the styles would still be an issue I imagine, even if imported styles worked ok.

I would be inclined to look at editing some of the on-board first myself by simply removing some of the drum and perc. parts if possible.

Freeplay styles are written differently some times using around 26 bars in a section to give you the rubato effect. It dose not work the same just muting parts.

Fully aware of that Eileen, i did say 'this does help to provide this sort of effect'

I just wish there were more of these dedicated freeplay styles around.

I just hope Mick finds what he looking for, for his E series, but i do think it is a long shot, without, as i say attempting to modify what is already available to suit his style of playing.

Fair point subtly made ... you'd need to use Jorgen's utility to convert SFF2 to SFF1

Thanks everyone...it did cross my mind to mess around  with existing styles .So could I download styles and mute out the melody..would that work ?

If that was case I have no problem as their is a vast coverage of songs out there.
Not sure if E433 is SFF1 or 2..Will check

Have a go with some of your factory or pre-loaded would be my take on it as a start. If some of these work out ok, then think about some from other boards.
It would be good If you 'can' in fact use some from other boards then there are half a dozen or so Yamaha freestyles which as said, you could then load.

As has been mentioned, freeplay are un-like any other styles, but in my view it is worth taking out some drum /perc. parts in existing ones, just to see how they pan out and suit your more rubato playing style.

This is an interesting topic - I would love to see more produced in freeplay. I really like these styles pity we dont have many.

I agree Keith .Sometimes you require a simple accompaniment to play along with your fake sheets or just memory.
I get frustrated with midi files etc when timing is  required all the time. Thanks Keith I will try some set out in the E433.
More free play styles I say.

Free play styles are really just continuous and overlapping pad sounds. If you try to make such a style you have to remove anything that sets the timing - not just percussion, but riffs, bass, anything else with a melodic line. Seldom would it be a simple edit, its almost a new stye or rebuilt style consisting of pad sounds only. In some ways you can get not too dissimilar an effect by layering some pad sounds on the voices, then just playing without a style.
