Are any members post-COVID gigging yet?

Is anybody finding opportunities to resume gigging yet as COVID restrictions lift?

Here in the Salem, Oregon area, access to senior facilities (my exclusive venues) is still closed with no word yet as to when they will begin opening.

Hi.

Contacted a few senior centers here in Silicon Valley where I play.   I have a battery solar generator and offered to setup outside or in a park near where they are and they are looking at it.  My partner and  I really miss the people and they miss us so much.   Hope we can start back up soon.

I've been playing three to four nights a week for more than a month now.  Nice to be back.  Being VERY careful.

Been doing a few senior homes, some outside events and a few virtual events using Zoom. Seems to work ok but does anyone have any better suggestions for doing gigs via the internet? I think Covid is going to be around for a while and we need to come up with some new solutions.

I finally got a couple senior facility calls for outside August gigs; played the first one today.  Ironically, this was where I played the first week of March (after which all my bookings cancelled), and now is the first one I played five months later.

Residents are so ready for emotional relief!

I know of a few performers that are doing the senior circuit and playing outdoors, weather dependent. Most have just a few jobs a week, but they said this will hold them over until cold weather arrives at the end of October, at which point they are hoping the covid is history and things will be back to normal. I seriously doubt that things will be back to normal, though, but by then there may be a vaccine available. Keep your fingers crossed.

COVID had completely shut me down after the first week of March.  However, I had four gigs in August.  So far, three are on my calendar for September.  All these are outdoor events.

After 15 years of playing only for senior venues I have decided to call it quits.  I personally do not think going into the senior places right now is a good idea.  I have often refused to return to certain places due to a lack of cleanliness and stink.  Even some of the high end very best places often had cleanliness issues.  I have not had any calls to return but will not accept them if that happens.

Don Mason returned to his restaurant job at Ernests last month and now both Don and his wife are seriously ill with COVID-19.  Of course my decisions are based on what I believe and feel about our current circumstances but truly believe it the best choice.

Moderators have tried to contact Drake but no response from Covid.
Sorry to hear about Don. His age and past health issues put him in the covid high risk category, so I hope we hear soon that he has come thru this. These are trying times.

Good decision Deane. Senior musician (no offend) + seniors at senior places = too much risks.

Update on Don Mason - Don was rushed to the hospital today in very serious condition. He was dehydrated, very weak, and now his lungs are affected with Covid-19. He said that after the infused 3 bottles of fluids and added some medications, plus breathing treatments twice daily, he is feeling a bit better. However, he asked me to tell everyone NOT TO CALL him. He said he is just too sick to talk to anyone at this stage of the disease, and he will be in contact when he feels up to posting again. He said that if they didn't rush him to the hospital, he's not sure he would alive at the end of the day - he felt that bad. He really appreciates your prayers and well wishes.
All the best,

Hi Deane,
Should we post news about Don Mason on a new thread instead of under this gigging thing? Ted
