I think USB Sticks are often called Flash Drives  I suspect they are some times called "' Plug  & Stays"   Am I correct?

ThumbDrive was the first brand to get a USB flash drive on the marktet, somewhere in 2000. I remember it vividly, because at that time, I worked for www.hardware.info and we were thrilled to get a first sample from ThumbDrive. 16 MB (yes, MB) in a compact format, compared to a stack of 10 3.5" disc. A major improvement!
Because ThumbDrive was the first on the marktet, the brand name is sometimes used as a generic name for all USB flash drives, just like many people in the US still use the term "hoover" for a vacuum cleaner.
20 years later, I've used quite a lot of them, but nowadays, I only use it in my Tyros 5 and car. All the rest uses internal (flash/SSD/eMMC) and/or cloud storage, and several 3 to 4 TB discs in my server. I haven't bought a new USB stick in over five years.

There's a lot of people in the UK also use "hoover" as a synonym for "vacuum cleaner", and also as a verb, as in "to hoover a carpet".
