Good afternoon, everyone,

at present, I am facing a style problem with GENOS, which I would like to have solved.
That's what I tried to do:
Example style "HappyBeat" (preset style).
I want to change a style track by editing the notes of the loop. In doing this, I first saved this style as a USER style.
The Style track, say "CHD 1", shows a guitar whose "melody-notes" should be different ones.
For this purpose I used the Style Creator to be able to edit the individual notes of the track.
I noticed that the StepEdit function in REC CHANNEL is only usable for RHY 1 and RHY 2, in all other tracks the StepEdit function is not applicable.
A window will open (track color in the display will turn red if you press and hold down the green "button" of the this specific instrument). Now a little message screen says that you can only delete and re-record this track, but it is NOT possible to use StepEdit.
Does anyone know a way to do this on GENOS ?
I could not find anything in the manuals and neither in this forum.
Thanks in advance for your answer(s),
Greetings,
Klaus
.... hope, it was understandable what I described.

Thanks !!

Yamaha 'locked down' the preset styles to stop you editing them.

But users are clever people. Jorgen has created a utility called "style unlocker" that will solve your problem.

DerekA is right. Thanks Jorgen for the great program.
However, some channels still cannot be unlocked.

Runner4Fun, watch the video to help you.

If style unlocker doesn't unlock the channel(s).

Try this.
I successfully unlocked a channel that could not be unlocked by Style Unlocker by creating a blank style template from an  initialized style. I Opened the template in MixMaster > List View > Other Tab > Style Editing > Import and replace channel.
Imported the style channel that I couldn't unlock. It was unlocked after I imported it.

If the style doesn't sound right, make the style template's channel's sections (A,B,C.D, Intros, endings etc)  the same length in bars as channel you are importing.

After you import the channel and edit the performance, you can import it back into the original style.

This method hasn't been tested thoroughly, but it might work.

Good luck

Many, many thanks to all three of you.

I'm happy to hear that my problem described is and was solvable.
Yes, with this great program "style unlocker", which I hadn't in my mind to look for it on Jorgen's page, the changes could have been made.
The proposal to use MixMaster will be the next step to test the described solution as well.
I haven't done it yet right now. I am using MixMaster very often, but I didn't neither draw it to my attention.
I let you know after I did the testing in the next couple of days.
It's nice to have you guys with this expert knowledge in this forum.

Be healthy in the near future as well !

● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)
