Excuse my ignorance....
I easily can assign whatever to the assignable buttons no problem.....
but when I power off and restart they return to default settings?

How can I assign the buttons and save them so they never change?..
any help appreciated

Thanx

rcpilot

Donny, you need to save them as a registration I think. I have a reg, I always load when I start a session of playing.

Donny, Lee is correct that's the only way I know how to get what you're looking to do.

Hi Dnj,

the following "Assignable" settings can be stored in Registrations (by ticking the "Assignable Buttons" checkbox) and also in the so called "System Setup":

- Assignable Buttons
- Assignable Buttons Detail Setting
- Rotary Sp/Assignable
- Rotary Sp/Assignable Detail Setting

Please refer also to the SX900 Data List, page 93 (chapter "Parameter Chart") for further information.

To save the settings made in the Assignable display properly (so that they are recalled when the SX900 is restarted), be sure to CLOSE the "Assignable" display by touching the "X" symbol OR pressing the [Exit] button. If this display is still OPEN (even in the background) when restarting, your Assignable settings will NOT be saved in the "System Setup"!

However, since the Assignable settings can also be changed accidentally by (third-party) Registrations, I recommend that you save your preferred Assignable settings in one or more so called "Setup Registrations".

Best regards,
Chris

On a Genos, the assignments survive a power on cycle.  You would think the SX series is the same.

Are you sure it's the power on/off cycle that's changing the assignments?

It's more likely to be one of your registrations that is changing the assignments. If so, fix that registration.

As Fred said, power off-on doesn't change/reset assignable buttons settings on SX.

Pino thanx and others ....

so assignable buttons should be checked and saved in a registration? so it doesnt change upon changing songs?

Bernie9

I thought it was the other way around.  If you don't check it,it is not saved, and remains as is. If I wanted to incorporate different setting with my registrations, I would check it,thus saving.

You check it if you want the registration to change your assignable settings, and don't check it if you don't.

Same as every other group listed.

Assignable buttons are part of how you want the keyboard set up. So it's likely for the vast majority of registrations  that you want assignables to remain constant so leave them unchecked when saving is my suggestion. It can get confusing if you check them as routine. What if in a few weeks time you want to switch to a newer/ better assignable setup? You'll find the regs you have already saved will keep undoing your new setup, needing extra hassle to edit your way around that.
Leave them unchecked and you are free to make changes which will stay.
I retain all my setups (for use as backup) by saving a system file. If something odd happens I can load that to reset the keyboard; it is equivalent to doing a "hold down the top note" reset on the keyboard, but I get all my settings back including assignables, instead of Yamaha's.

That is what I do with the buttons and knobs-leave them unchecked, and they do not change.

Same here.

It would be nice to be able to lock assignments in Parameter Lock. Hopefully that will be added in the future.
