Depends on the keyboard.

250 for old PSRs, 500 for newer ones.
500 for Tyros
2500 for Genos

Much easier if you divide it in folders on a USB Stick. Like Songs, BigBand, Country, Ballroom... you name it. In each folder you can safe about 400 - 500 files. PLENTY of room. I do the same on my 950.
Use the internal memory only as a temporary workplace.
