Hi @islam01

Hi Vali,

could you please check the following:

Yesterday I imported the Yamaha Local Pack "Persian 2 (v2)" (.ppf format, originally for PSR-A3000) into the YEM. (I wanted to check the unlocking of the voices for this Pack.)

Then I closed YEM and opened YEM-CE (v2.1.1). Now I clicked directly on "Options - Enable editing locked files" (without first selecting a specific Pack).

The result is that the checkboxes for the individual packs have now disappeared in YEM-CE, and when I click on a Pack, its content is no longer displayed.

In addition, the selection of Packs made in YEM for a specific install target is no longer correctly displayed in YEM-CE (see also the attached picture).

If I delete a certain Pack in the YEM and import it again, this Pack will be displayed correctly again in the YEM-CE (including checkbox and pack contents).

Very mysterious ... ;)

P.S.
The Packs "Persian 2" and "Persian 3" have already been deleted in YEM and imported again, therefore the checkboxes and the contents are shown again.

Best regards,
Chris

Yes, indeed, seems to be a bug!
I will check immediately to see what is going on!

Hi Vali,

thanks for you prompt reaction!

Now I have another little problem: ;)

When I open YEM-CE v2.1.2, it runs for a short time, and in the statusbar I can read someting like "Counting empty waveforms". This text in the statusbar is flickering extremly fast (same as is in previous version 2.1.1), but then ... the program obviously CRASHES (and closes automatically).

I suspect that this has to do with corrupted data in the YEM user folder caused by the bug of the previous version (but v2.1.1 does NOT crash with the same YEM data).

What do you suggest: Should I delete all packs in YEM and re-import them, or should I just start over with a new, empty YEM user folder?

Or could it be that there is now another bug in v2.1.2 (which prevents the program from starting properly)?

P.S.
It makes no difference if I start YEM-CE normally or use "Run as Administrator".

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Chris.

This is very strange, because I saw what was the error, and I solved it as to not care about the extra characters added by that bug in 2.1.1 .
So, I think this is another bug (or not). I must see the error which you got when crushed, to see what is all about!
I test on my installation, with both versions. 2.1.1 does not starts, 2.1.2 starts. So seems something is in your installation, but I must see the error when crushed, because I cannot reproduce your error!

You might have in app's folder a file named "AppLog.log" or in D:\AppLog.Log.
Please send those files to me, to see what's going on!

Thanks, and sorry for unpleasantness :(

Hi Vali,

I found only one file "Applog.log" on my Computer (Windows 10  64-bit version 1909) on D:\

I attached this file (with added .txt extension).

P.S.
I just tried to start YEM-CE v2.1.2 again at the moment: It still crashes after a short time, but the log file you mentioned was NOT updated.

Firstly, thank you for your reply.  Will it be possible to unlock sounds with a lock icon in the future?  Because I tried most of the ppf format packs given by yamaha, the locked sounds are not unlocked.

Hi islam01.

It is not and it will not be possible to edit such type of voices, like SA, SA2 and so on. No possible in YEM, so it is not my fault, it is a YEM limitation!

I did it possible for regular voices, so, as you can see in pictures I have attached there are unlocked almost all voices. Those with lock icon are Super Articulation voices. Again, I say that I put the flag for edit those voices too, but YEM it blocks editing those voices!

Version 2.1.4 was released. Follow link in first post.

History:
Quote

  • New Functions :
    - Export voices parameters for EMC Style Factory.
    - Export voices parameters for Steinberg Cubase.

  • UI Changes
    - All "Export for ..." menus has been moved to a single menu item, "Export voices parameters for other software formats"
    - "Show icons" menu was moved in a new menu item in menu bar, named "Settings".
    - The file for MixMaster will contain a "comment" line, before each pack, with the name of pack.
    - Exporting voices parameters will take care about an option in Settings menu, named "Export PC Numbers as 000-127". If this option will be checked, all exportable parameters will be in PC range of 000-127. If it is not checked, all voices parameters will be exportable as in PC range of 001-128 (display range). This setting will be remembered at next app launch.
    Note:
After exporting file for Cubase, you will have to manually install file in Cubase local folder on your installation. You will find that folder in user area (Roaming), "%appdata%\Steinberg\<CubaseVersion>\Scripts\Patchnames\inactive\Yamaha", without quotes. Usually, AppData folder is a hidden folder in user's system drive, so it is more simple to write only "%appdata%" in your windows start search bar, and after that to navigate thru folders tree till you reach Yamaha folder in Steinberg Cubase's folders tree.
After you paste your copy of generated file by YEM-CE, you will have to install it in Cubase Midi Devices. So, search "Midi Device Manager" option in Cubase Menu (different locations on different versions) and press on INSTALL button. Take care, if you have already an old version of your file installed, you have to remove installed file before installing the new one, by selecting it in the displayed list, and click on "Remove Device".
Depending on your preferences, you may create one file for each Pack (it will show your pack name in Midi Device selection ) or you can export all packs in one file, and the device will be shown as a single device containing all voices grouped by packs names.

You can look to a short video on how to save and install Cubase patch file... click on image below...

Vali,

Thanks for this great program and again thanks for all your efforts.

If I may add a few comments about exporting Voice Files. (Please)

The IDL Voice files are for midisoft StyleMagic YA and MidiWorks YA they use PC#  001 - 128. The IDL Editor is a utility for adding pack Voices to these programs and is FREE.  You can download it here:  https://www.midisoft.pl/en/  The pack Voices will display as Panel Voices in the programs.

MixMaster Voice files will work for PadMaker and PadMaker-Midi as well, they use PC# 000 - 127 (check the box in Settings Menu)

Style Factory files will work for EMC Style Factory and EMC StyleWorks , they use PC# 000 - 127 (check the box in Settings Menu)  The pack Voices will be selectable as Panel Voices in Style Factory.

Cubase also uses PC# 000-127 for expansion packs.  Just copy and paste the expansion pack Voice list at the end of your specific Cubase Instrument script file (this is a standard text file).  You can add multiple Packs to the script.

I hope this info is helpful.

Thanks Joe for your detailed info :)

I have sent to you last version. I will wait for your feedback to be able to enable download link.

PS: I personally don't add expansion packs to existing factory voices, because in my thinking of exporting separately, it will be displayed in Midi Device output the name "Expansion", and this is a good view for a user! I personally export separately each pack, and you will see in output the name of the pack you use for that channel!
When you export pack by pack, the device name will be "Yamaha <KeyboardName> <PackName> Expansion". When you select a Midi Output, you will see for example "Yamaha PSR-S970 EuroDance Expansion". In my opinion is a great thing, you can see exactly which pack you have selected for a track! More than that, if you add a pack later in YEM, it is simple to export only that pack, copy exported file to installation folder and install the device in Midi Device Manager screen. You don't have to carry about which packs you have already in the main Genos file, or whatever!

Vali

Vali,

The reason I suggest that we can put several packs in a Preset Voice list (it's optional) is that I have styles that use both Preset Voices and Voices from several different packs (in the same style) including OTS Voices.  So when I'm editing a style, all Preset and pack Voices are available in one list.  This is especially true for Style Magic, Style Factory, and Cubase.

When I edit a style or Multi Pad in MixMaster or PadMaker-Midi, all pack Voices are available to me in the list so the style or MP will sound right when I play it in the software.

I understand that others may choose to do it differently... that's OK.

;)

Joe H

Download link was reattached.

PS: In MixMaster export, Joe had a wish, to add a "comment" line before each pack, containing the name of pack, so in the list of voices you will see that record too.

Dear Vali,
My expansion memory became full from all expansions pack I collected but recently I found some more free voices on CMS website and I have no more space for them to be installed as expansion packs. I am looking for solution to be able to extract voices separately and transfer them to internal, user memory via USB stick. I found Your soft here and downloaded it (the latest v2.1.5), but I can not run it - receiving the error message: "I did not found path of "Yamaha Expansion Manager" distribution (installation) folder !"
Is it maybe related to the fact, that I installed YEM in non-default folder (mine is "D:\Tools\YEM").
BTW, anyone already succeeded in exporting CMS and is using this way voices from their PPF files ?
Thanks in advance,
Jaroslaw

Hi Jaroslaw,

the so-called "Expansion Memory" is the ONLY memory in which the Wave data ("Samples") of Expansion Voices can be stored. The only possibility in your case to install further Expansion Voices (which use your own Samples) is to delete part of the currently installed Expansion Voices (or entire Packs) (i.e. to deactivate them in the YEM).

A "User Voice" file that you can load e.g. from the internal User drive or directly from a USB stick, is always only a so-called "Voice Set file". This only contains the SETTINGS of the respective Voice, NOT the SAMPLES. Such a "User Voice" refers either to the original PRESET Voice or to an EXPANSION Voice. But in the latter case this Expansion Voice must have been installed normally (using the YEM and "Pack Installation") beforehand.

Chris

Thank You both for quick reply !
Vali, I will be waiting then for the next update.
Chris, I see and understand now the difference in voices - this means I will probably have to manage the memory space by more selective choices of voices I want to use in YEM. I also have to learn how the external voices are built and working...
I am returning to the keyboard after over 20 years break, from playing simple Casio in the late 90's directly to Genos now, so a huge jump and a lot of to discover. I will be still refreshing my knowledge by reading the forum and learning my Genos step by step. It is amazing journey !

Very cool, Vali!

What I just remember: It would be nice if there was a way to set the key ranges of Elements that use Preset waveforms (e.g. to create Split Voices and/or overlapping Layers). So far this has only been possible with great difficulty, by editing the relevant uvf files.

I saw you can already change the Note Limit and Velocity Limit parameters of Elements in YEM-CE. Can this also used for Elements that use Preset waveforms?
