Hi Everyone, I have a Genos with OS V2 and I would like to connect some expensive Bluetooth earbuds to it so that I don't need monitors when performing live. However I can only find WiFi connectivity on the Genos so does anyone know if connecting via Bluetooth is possible, perhaps using some sort of adaptor?
Here's hoping

Look up 'Bluetooth transmitter' on Amazon

You will find a small box that plugs into the L/R line out on the back of the Genos, and transmits the audio to anything you like (speaker, headphone) via Bluetooth

Disclaimer : I've not done this myself yet, but I'm going the other way - I've ordered a Bluetooth receiver to plug into AUX IN so that I can play sources in through AUX IN.

Your problem with bluetooth while performing is latency! There will be a gap from the moment you press the key until you hear the note in your earbuds. So, better to use a wire!

Toril is correct, there will likely be some latency. Doesn't matter and not noticeable when playing an MP3 for example, but playing live is different, and even a  tiny delay can be difficult.

OmbDave

Thank you Toril, Mike and Derek for your fast responses they are much appreciated.
I would be unable to use the main R/L line out as they go to my PA speakers but can I ask Toril and Mikf if there would still be a latency problem if I purchased some WiFi earbuds
Thanks for your help everyone

You could just use wired headphones or earbuds.

Toril S

Use the earphone socket in front. And set it up so the sound goes both to the PA system and to your earphones.

Don, I can't used wired earbuds as I move around the stage when doing gags but thank you.
Toril, I can't use the headphone socket for the PA as I need separate Left and Right outputs to my Active speakers but thank you too for the suggestion.

Not for the PA, but for the earphones. But I see your problem with the wire. I have a PA system called Bose L1 compact. If I place it behind and to the left of me I usually hear myself very well when playing. But if the noise level is high I would have liked to use earphones, but never do.

Hi Toril, sorry my fault, now I understand what you meant regarding the headphone socket. I have the same problem as you when I need to have my PA louder which is why I wanted to try wireless headphones but I didn't know that there would be a delay when using Bluetooth, also I have to wear digital hearing aids which further complicates the problem so removing the hearing aids and replacing with earbuds seemed to be worth a try. I will keep on searching but meanwhile once again thank you for helping me

You could maybe try wireless headphones - not midi or Bluetooth - they sometimes have little or no latency.

OmbDave

Mikf, I do have headphones but they don't look good to perform in. I guess I'll have to try wired earbuds and just not move around. I have some Philips wireless headphones which work well in the Genos. They have a receiver/transmitter which plugs into the Genos headphone socket and then wirelessly transmit to the headphones. Now if I could only find earbuds which did that I'd be happy
Thanks to everyone for the advice.

Toril, here's little trick for you. I use two Bose L1 Compacts and often have them set to the side of me so other band members can also hear them really well. The Compacts have a horizontal spread pattern of 178 degrees - nearly a full half-circle. I pan them toward me ever so slightly and it makes a huge difference. My bandmates can still hear enough keyboard information but I can hear all the little things. We have all used horn speakers for years and are trained to think that ALL speakers must face the audience at a 90-degree angle. This is completely untrue for the Compacts.

Give this idea a try sometime :).
"Learn" your music correctly, then "practice" it. Don't practice mistakes because you'll learn them.

Hi All, I have been informed by my nearest audio specialist that what I need is "In Ear Monitors" . They are quite expensive (Between £250 - £500). Therefore before buying can I ask if any forum members have experience of them and can recommend any in particular? I think, (Correct me if I'm wrong) that they connect via a stereo cable to a transmitter from the headphone jack of my Genos which is then picked up by the earbuds.
Thanks in anticipation

Hi All,
I have now ordered a transmitter and wireless receiver incl. earbuds from gear4music in U.K.
They are very reasonably priced and the included earbuds are decent Sennheisers. It just might be a cheap way of getting me in to IEM's. They arrive on 27th December so will report on them after that, meanwhile thanks to everyone who has helped with such good advice.
