Hi everyone,
I've downloaded several voices from the internet but they're too loud.
I'm wondering if there are software that can adjust the volume. I've tried MixMaster but didn't know how.
Thanks a lot for any help.

Ted:

In MixMaster, to adjust the volume events in the file, Open the file and then depress Volume View. For additional details, consult page 21 of the Manual that is available from the top of the MM screen.

To add a series of events that scale or fade volume events, open List View, select the Other tab on the right of the screen, then depress the Process Events and select the process that fits your requirement.

Hi Ted,

WHAT exactly did you download, and which keyboard model do you have?

Is this really about new VOICES (which you may have downloaded as an Expansion Pack)?

Or are they MIDI songs (MIDI files) or maybe STYLES you've downloaded (and where you want to change certain Voices in volume?

Please specify a little more!

Best regards,
Chris

Thanks Michael, Jorgen, and Chris.
I play s970. It's a voice with .vce extension. I'm attaching it here FYI.
I opened the volume view in MM and typed "all" and "50%" in the boxes at the lower right corner of the screen, but the volume was not changed.
I will look into the link sent by Jorgen.
Thank you all very much.

Ted:

I looked briefly and it appears that vce files, that I looked at, do not include a default volume command. This is only assigned and available when the voice is specified in a midi, style etc.

Hi Ted,

a .vce file is a "User Voice" file. Such a "User Voice" does not contain any Voice (Sample) data, but only the Voice Set data. So, a "User Voice" is just a Preset Voice, where certain parameters can be changed.

Note: You can use such "User Voices" only in Keyboard Parts, but NOT in Styles, Multi Pads or MIDI files. (IF you would try this, only the Preset Voice on which the User Voice is based would play.)

To play a "User Voice", open the Voice Selection display for the desired Part (RIGHT 1, 2 or LEFT) and select the Voice name. You can now adjust the Volume in several ways:

1. Adjust the Part Volume in the Balance display.

2. Adjust the Part Volume in the Mixing Console (page "Panel").

3. Press "Voice Set" inside the Voice Selection display and check the parameter "Volume" (in "Common" tab). Here you can adjust the "internal" Volume of the User Voice. To save your changes, press "Save" (inside "Voice Set). To prevent overwriting your original User Voice, type in a new or changed file name.

Note: You do not necessarily have to save the changes you made in "Voice Set" to a (new) User Voice, because you can simply memorize these changes (including the changes in the Mixing Console) to a REGISTRATION. (To memorize the LEFT Voice in a Registration you have to tick the "Style" checkbox in Memory dialog.)

Changes in "Voice Set" can also be saved to the OTS buttons, but then you have to newly save the particular STYLE, of course.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

Michael and Chris,
Thank you for looking into the file.
Look like the only way to adjust the volume is using voice set function from keyboard. Currently, I set one knob (s970) to adjust the voice volume and just remember turn it down before playing the sound, so it wouldn't damage people's ears.
Thanks again.

Hi Ted,

no, to adjust the Volume in VOICE SET is NOT the only way. ;)

Please read the points 1 and 2 in my reply (#6) again.

Exactly as when loading a PRESET Voice, you load your User Voice (the .vce file) for a certain PART (for example "Right 1"). First of all, you should adust the PART VOLUME. As I mentioned before, you can do this in the BALANCE display (which is a Part of the Main display on PSR-S and Tyros models) OR in the MIXING CONSOLE.

Directly after powering on, all PART volumes are at the value 100. But for the keyboard Parts (Right / Left) it is absolutely normal to adjust the Part volumes as desired and then memorize the complete setting to a Registration (or to an OTS button, to save it with the STYLE).

Only if a (Preset or User) Voice is too quiet (has not enough "power") or it is extremly loud (compared to other Preset Voices), I would touch the Volume parameter in VOICE SET.

You can save the changes directly in VOICE SET (overwrite the original .vce file or better save with a new / changed filename).

Alternatively, as mentioned before, you can save the changes in Voice Set directly to Registrations or OTS.

Best regards,
Chris

Chris,
Yes, I know using balance and mixing control also help, but I just want it be the same as preset voices, so I'd use the voice set.
Thank you for your information.
