Hi Loyd, welcome in the digital eara. So you dump also your computer, all that software, your smartphone, your tablet, your navigation in your car etc. etc. Try to live with it ... or in this case take a simple piano, then no updates are needed anymore ;)
My best regards,
Ton

Gunnar Jonny

It's not as complex as it may seem by some posts.
Just follow the instructions written at the downloadpage, and it will work.
That said, each one do as they like, but if follow the developement and progress, fix bugs that may be there, at some point the updates has to be done.
But there also another say: 'If it ain't broken, don't fix it!'  😎😊

Hi Lloyd,
can you take your Genos to a music store to do this job for you?
You can ask them also to install all the free expansion packs with the extra voices and styles using their computer and YEM.
How much money will they ask to do those things for you?
I can understand that there is no reason for some people to learn about how to use any tech/computer kind of thing. :)

Hi

If your store is a good one where you purchased your Genos they would probably come out a see you.
I remember when my father had problems with the setup of his organ. A local shop person came out and re- configured it for him.
It really is so easy to update, but if you do not have a computer, a shop like E-Pianos in UK can send you the update on a USB stick for the price of the USB.

You would just plug your usb into the Genos .
Press the start button and the power on together (Press and hold both buttons) and wait .
The screen will go black with white writing.
Follow the instructions and press start again and wait until it says completed.
Turn the Genos off and take your usb out and start up.
Bobs yer uncle, you have Genos 2. The Instrument and sound packs are separate as you have to have a computer to run YEM.
If you are at wits end ,have a break and come back the next day . It does wonders when you can think with a free head.
Well Lloyd , of course I would help you but there is the matter of the air fare!!. Unfortunately I live  in the UK.!!! ;D ;D
I used to have an uncle who lived in Holiday and had some good times along that coastline. Lovely and warm where you are.

All the best
John :)

Lloyd,

The video below may help you. It focusses on what actions to take, in addition to the normal update procedure, which most of us have done several times in the past.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xqkBgWlk_Q&t=51s

if you follow these instructions, your MIDI settings will be migrated as wel as, Master EQ settings, master Compression settings, vocal harmony settings and microphone settings.

What is not covered (and will need to be done manually after finishing this procedure) is to change the system settings.
They are listed in the data list manual, but here are some examples
- Which master EQ setting to use.
- Which master compressor setting to use.
- Assignable buttons
- Freeze options
- Which settings to save to a registration button
- Chord fingering settings
- Style settings
- Display/touch screen settings (in het utility menu)
- Registration sequence settings
- Music score settings
- Keyboard/joystick settings

There are some others, but these are the ones I needed to adjust.

If you have never changed any of these settings, you do not need to bother with them now either. If you did, you can take a picture of the settings before the upgrade and then use these pictures after the upgrade to set things as they were. (which is what I did)

As Johhny said, it's not as complex as it may seem, but that of course depends on one's more technical knowledge of the keyboard..
And also, when we buy a new keyboard, we need to set these things manually as well, so you can compare this to getting a new Genos 2.0 keyboard for free ....

Good luck

Hi Lloyd

John's advice is good, yes,it can seem a bit complicated, especially installing the Superior Pack but many have now achieved that, even me  ;D there is lots of good help here to guide you through it.
It may be that the store where you bought your Genos would talk you through it over the phone.

The thing is DO NOT GIVE UP.

Best wishes

Hi Lloyd,

Please don't give up. There are lots of people on the Forum that will help you. Just tell them when you get stuck.

I managed to do the update and if I can do it I'm sure you could provided you have a Windows 10 or Mac computer.

However, I have just seen that e-pianos have produced a usb stick with the download on it and are selling it for £18.99.

I'm sure they would be very helpful if you gave them a ring and explained your position.

Their telephone number is 01295 266788.

Website is ePianos.co.uk

Or you could contact the store where you bought it - I feel sure they will give you some guidance.

I'm sure there are other options which will be available to you and be mentioned by the gurus on here.

Good luck

Thanks for all your kind words and help. I am 90 yrs old and this procedure has me depressed. I did not follow the instructions as I have downloaded many, many updates with no problems. Now I have the update 2.0 showing and my registrations etc. still work so I am leaving it this way. Yes, it's my fault
so now I have to live with it. Lloyd

Well done, Lloyd. Back to the keys again to enjoy the musicmaking!
My best regards,

Hi Lloyd,

Glad you got there in the end.

You can enjoy playing your Genos again now.

Sorry I recommended e-pianos, I forget to take into account that you live in Florida and not the UK. I luv Florida and if I was younger would live there.
