Will styles and registrations on my 950 work on the new SX900.  Can I use the flash drive with set ups on  the 950 on the 900.  I understand there will be new voices on the SX900 but would like to make transition as seamless as possible.  Thank you.   Bob

Hello Bob. Styles will work fine. Some may need a little tweaking to sound their best. Registrations will have to be converted. You will love the SX900.

From older to newer keyboard model, registrations will work, but some of them maybe need some tweaking- Once I had prs 970, and made some registrations on it. Then I bought me a Tyros 5, and reg. from 970 did not work because Tyros 5 is an older modell than 970. Korg is far better that way, everything goes along as long it is a Korg.

Thank you everyone for the feedback.   I gig weekly with my 950 and really want to use as much of the set ups I have as I transition to a SX900.

Again I thank you for thee feedback

Your user styles and registrations will work fine.  I am in the process of helping a friend with this exact transition.
HOWEVER, we have found that there are often better styles in the SX900, so you might want to consider going through each registration and experimenting with some of the new styles to see if there is improvement.
We often make the mistake of trying to make our new arranger sound exactly like our old
one.
Just one thing among many that I have recently discovered:  Limit file names to 12 or fewer characters.  We tried to load CDG files and they were great, except some of them failed to show up.  I contacted Yamaha and the tech suggested checking the length of the file names, and he was 100 percent correct.  I'm not certain if this applies to ALL file names or just the CDG files.
Bear in mind if you do use CDG files, and shorten the name of the MP3s,  you will also have to change the name of the associated lyrics file (CDG) to be exactly the same and stay in the same folder.
Probably not many will use CDGs but this might help those that do.
Still, having all those Regs to start with will definitely make the transition easier.

File names are limited to 50 characters, but that includes the extension, punctuation and icon identifier.

Fred

Maybe so, but the files names for CDG/MP3 files are limited to 12 or 13 at most, according to Yamaha support.  And what they told me worked.
