Hi Guys :

I have 2 vocal recording questions.

01. Is it possible to make a flat vocal recording ( no reverb or any other fx  ) first in the arranger keyboard and send that recorded WAV vocal track back to
      the VH2 section to add a VH2 effect ?  8)

FYI, up to now I am recording all vocal recordings in separate tracks ( in my audio DAW ).

02. Last but not least, I wonder if it is possible to make MIDI Vocal recordings and play them in Midi ? On the internet some people say it is possible ...

Wishful thinking, I guess ? ::)

Your reaction and/or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Looking forward to receiving your answer(s). Thanks !

Best regards, Babette

Can't help you with #1, but #2 is impossible.

Hi Fred :

Thank you for your reply. :)

I wonder how Yamaha are producing the Midi Multipads, e.g. : Gsp Adlibs, Gsp Choir and Gsp Solo etc.
This production looks to be a real software secret ( how these multipads are made ).

Best wishes, B

Midi multipads play a voice. So the secret is in the creation of the voice.

It is not just multipads that play vocals, voices themselves are based on audio samples and there are a whole range of preset voices that use "vocals".
If you want to control your own vocal via midi you can do similar by using your own wav file to make a custom (fixed key for simplicity) voice in Yem . This voice when loaded to the keyboard will be triggered on and off via midi and respond to midi settings in the usual way, including being recordable in a SMF.

You would need to be careful to record the required tempo at the right key in the original vocal to final requirements since you won't have control over those when playing this voice without adversely affecting quality.

Hi John :

Thank you for your interesting feedback.  :)

Would like to know how " midi vocal voices " are made and how to use them ( in a YEM file e.g ).
I understand the job seems to be very complicated especially if one is not a computer expert ( like me ), right ?

Your comments would be highly appreciated.

Thanks and best regards, B

Babette,
The last time I made custom voices based on my own files was with Tyros4 before the days of Yem when methods were different. I have only used Yem - with Ty5 and Genos - to create or modify occasional voices based on limited samples from the preset voices, which is not the same. So I am not the best person to provide a full tutorial on using Yem.
In fact Yem already comes with a "manual" as part of the download and I believe it is essential reading at first for someone wishing to acclimatise to what is available and what can be done. The next stage would be to try a few things aimed at achieving your goal and then if you get stuck come back to ask more specific questions.

The only way you could accomplish this would be to record your flat vocals on an external recorder, then feed it through the keyboard using the Aux Input, add the effects and record the results using the onboard recorder/player. Keep in mind the onboard recorder/player cannot play and record at the same time - you either play, or record, but not both at once.

I think Fred has answered all your other questions,
