In SFF2 format, there is a range of zones for low, middle and high. These share the same CASM functions. Who knows what is it for? See the picture.

You might look in this document I co-wrote with Peter Wierzba a few years ago.

And a wonderfully informative and well-written document it is! Thank you, Michael and Peter, for that very helpful work. :)

Thank you. I red but I would appreciate if someone explain me what is it for? In which case do you use the range of zones high, middle and low, differently for each CASM section? My idea was to assign for each zone a range zone and assign for each zone a different set of chords (major, minor or 7th). When you play a major chord assigned at a specific range, the other chords assigned at different zone are muted. So, you could use only one track for each type of chords. But, it seems that you don't.

Hi --

One more suggestion. Please take advantage of Michael B's StyleDump program and study Yamaha factory styles.

You'll see that chord note and type are associated with a Section overall, not the low/mid/high note ranges.

The most common use for low/mid/high note ranges is Mega Voice. An electric guitar may be defined in the following way:

    Low: Root Fixed, Chord/Bass On
    Middle: Guitar, Guitar Arpeggio/Bass On
    High: Root Fixed, Bypass

High must not be transposed (Bypass) in order to handle special effect notes correctly.

Hope this helps -- pj

P.S. Thanks Michael and Peter!

I thought it was Stylemagic YA.

If plan A doesn't work, don't forget that the alphabet has 25 more letters.

Hi bernamato,

did you already read the tutorial "How to create Yamaha SFF styles"? I have attached a picture with the relevant details for "Range of zones" in SFF2 CASM editor of "Styleworks YA".
