Tx everyone. Okay Babette, let's forget the whole matter. I love modifying styles and that is what this topic is all about.

The demo sounds very good, it's song specific, I could use sometimes
I am well experienced with making and tuning styles,
I have a few different PSR keyboards including S975

My question
If I haven't got the same YAMAHA packs installed.
Then that style will not sound anything like that demo on my keyboard.
Correct or not.

Pino

Henni

Hi Pino,

Yes, the ones that ends with _Pck will not sound correct without the pack. My S770 does not have stunning human voices on-board so I have to get them from a Pack.

I will not even attempt to convert the previous style to normal voices as it will simply not sound the same. However, the majority of these new styles use standard on-board voices, so all is not lost.

One of the Genos owners purchases every single style that I produce. He installed my pack & I have not had a single complaint from him. It seems as if the pack installs correct on anything from the PSR S770 and newer without any conflicts whatsoever.

Another Tyros 5 owner installed the pack, but some of the voices now have a new slot address - it is difficult for me to solve as I do not have any access to a Tyros 5. Joe H was kind enough to point out how this could be solved using MixMaster, but I will not attempt something that I cannot test properly.

I made similar beautiful styles for the Audya, but stopped making them available after someone with a brand new SD9 experienced all sorts of problems with the new styles. Hence as of late I focus ALL my time and energy only on my Yamaha.

Oh yes, one last thing - as soon as I can have a PC with Windows 7 or later, I'll trim my pack to only contain the few voices that I often use. That leaves space available for any other packs as long as they do not conflict with existing slot addresses.

So to sum things up - as from yesterday all styles ending with "_Std" can be played accurately without the pack. These can also be converted to the Tyros 4 & up format (I guess even the older ones) and will still sound rather accurate.

Styles ending with "_Pck" use voices from my custom pack. If you have a S770 or newer model and you are willing to install this pack, overwriting whatever might be installed already, they will sound exactly as per demo. If you do not want the pack or have one of the older models, I would strongly suggest that you skip these styles altogether.

All the best,

Henni

Update,

I know now from personal feedback that all these styles plus the package works perfect on the:

1. PSR S770
2. PSR S970
3. PSR S975
4. Genos

I have one happy Tyros 5 customer, but also one unhappy Tyros 5 customer which I refunded in full. With EVERY style I mail I offer a full refund if not satisfied - no questions asked. Only one Tyros 5 customer made use of this option. The rest all sent me email expressing appreciation & full satisfaction.

Cheers all,

Henni

Hello!

Here is one very satisfied customer. I have ordered and received two styles from Henni. I think the process worked well and quickly. Now I have playd a few songs with them, there is really something "special" in my mind. Also I think that Henni`s styles  are cheap, no problems with price.

Every forum need more members like Henni. She has done a lot work before this disccussion and helped us, including me. There  are in all forum members who want to take everything (and free charge  off course), but they don`t give anything. Oh, sorry, they gives often negative feedback.

All the best,

Sure wish they were available for the PSR-S950.

@Gary,

If you choose one "_Std" style I'll convert for you to test on your PSR S950. I think they should convert reasonable well.

Henni, I'll let you pick it - preferably a light rock or Latin style such as the Rock Cha Cha. If it works, I'll be more than happy to buy the entire batch from you.

Hi all,

Some feedback:

1. I will no longer troll this thread - please see master list above for any new styles added.
2. One satisfied Tyros 5 owner has now purchased 9 styles in total. It seems as if they work properly on his unit as he did not install the pack.
3. I have now started to convert the working T5 styles To PSR 950 and lower model format - they should work.
4. I keep on adding modified styles using Package voices to standard on-board voices as customers request these. They also reflect now on the main list above.

I need feedback from a Tyros 5 owner who installed the pack. If I can have 7 pics from him/her showing the new voices with their new voice numbers, I can find a solution to make the styles also read the correct voices from the pack on the T5. Thus, after converting the on-board S770 voices to Tyros 5 format, I can proceed to convert the pack voices also.

I sincerely thank all who purchase these styles and also for your contineous positive feedback.

Keep well my friends,

Henni

Hello Henni,
I can say - all parts of the styles are running perfect. The sound is beautiful. You have done a great work. Thanks for all.

Update 02:

I now have the list with the Tyros 5 Pack voices. I am absolutely confident that I can now make every single style work properly on the T5!!!

This could be a problem for you. The way YEM works is whenever we install a new .ppf pack file, YEM assigns it the next available LSB number. If your buyers can assign the same LSB as you yourself has that's great, but I as explained above that is not always possible. that's why I asked Etienne to add the new feature in MixMaster. It is a simple process to change the LSB number in a complete folder of style files.  I've tested it and it works.

I suggest you just inform the buyer of your LSB number, if they can't install the pack with the same number, then the MixMaster option is the simplest and best solution.

Henni

Hi Joe H,

I thought that if you install a pack fresh on a T5 that it will start using the 1st available slot - I understand perfectly that if you add it to an existing pack you'll have problems. But then even Genos, S975 & S970 users will experience the same problem.

So, if I can have the new slot numbers from a T5 fresh install, I can manually tweak those styles to point to the correct addresses, even with my older MixMaster. I realize that I cannot do a batch conversions of the above with my version.

Cheers,

Henni

Update: I now have the voice list. Tomorrow I'll start modifying those styles - I will soon have feedback of the results & will inform all of the outcome.

What I was suggesting is let the buyer install your pack to whatever LSB number is available, and let the buyer convert the LSB Number in the style files using MixMaster.

I bought a pack from Jan (styles2 psr) and had the problem of using a different LSB... his styles would not work... at first I didn't understand what the problem was.  Then a little later on I was going to share my custom styles using a commercial pack with another forum member (whom helped when I needed it) and realized the pack was installed on my keyboard with a different LSB.  That's when I came up with the idea of converting the LSB in MixMaster.

I understand you don't want the buyer to have to do anything, just plug 'n play... but the batch processing in MixMaster is a piece of cake for almost anyone and only takes a couple of minutes to do.

This issue of the LSB is a big one and it will come up with someone else in the future just as it has with me and you.

I just thought of another option: If the styles are not in a pack already, they can be imported in YEM as Content.  YEM will then assign the correct LSB to the styles when they save the pack to disk.  If they buy styles from you in the future they can Import them as Content and save the pack again.  Everything will work correctly.  It's just something we will have to live with until (hopefully) Yamaha adds a feature to "lock" the LSB on packs already imported into YEM.

Joe H

Hi Henni :

" There are no stupid questions ", once Bernard Shaw said.☝

If you could create an XGWorks patch that made it possible to work with SFF2 styles, I am sure a lot of people would be ready to order this patch immediately from you.
Only SFF1 styles are working now.

All XGW users would very grateful ! 💐

FYI, XGWorks will run very well in win XP.

For the being only " old " styles ( Tyros1 and Tyros2 ) are accepted by XGW if the extension has been changed into *.sty. No other extensions are accepted either.
Newer styles have to be converted first ( see Joergen Soerensen's conv. prog ) but the sound quality is mostly not good.😰

If you might be interested, plse let me know and I will send  an XGW prog copy to your private e-mail address.

Best wishes, Babette

Hi Babette,

Unfortunately I am not that clever. This is more Jorgen's kind of expertise.

Kind regards,

Hi all,

Someone tested some converted styles on his PSR S950 - it works. So now I can cater for those models also.

I was the one that tested two styles on my S-950 and can attest they are excellent. If it were not that I already have a massive collection of style files, I would have Henni provide me with his entire collection.

Quote from: HenniAre you satisfied with your new styles my friend? Because you have a Tyros 5, I am always desperate for your feedback as I cannot audition your styles properly before sending to you. Another Tyros 5 owner was not satisfied and thus far the ONLY customer that requested a refund.

Quote from: Tyros 5 ownerWhat should I say, fantastic as the styles of the first two deliveries. I am fully satisfied.

In my view, there is no reason to be dissatisfied. The styles are identical to the demos. They can easily be adapted to individual songs. Of course, there are no universal styles that fit every song. But they are of such a great musical expression and therefore better for matching songs than any other styles I have heard so far.

I do not know if I can express myself correctly with my limited English. I want to say that you can not use these styles immediately and unedited for each song, but they instantly give you a sense of what they are for. And they are great for that.

Hi all,

Decided to make a style available for demo purposes.

Hi everyone,

I've equalized the volume levels on all the style demos. Now I can listen to these in a playlist without touching the volume settings.

Henni

Hi Babette,

Yes, I've put in a LOT of effort - I often work through the night. However, doing something one is passionate about takes all the strain out of it.

I am proud to now have the first 100 styles finished. Hopefully there will be 100 more soon.

If I may offer a suggestion, one of my few successes in performing in lounges and as we call  'em, saloons was due to tips I received from both Lenny Dee and Earl Grant and that was "play your music for the dumbest dancer". What they alluded to was the better dancers could do all the fancy stuff while the others just needed the basic beat. How this relates to your situation is that many of are just home players and not all that swift on computer- eze so in order for us to know what you are talking about is to keep it simple. You know, first do this, then do that etc. Many of us are are among the older set and not teeny boppers or twenty somethings. Personally I have a whole slew of stuff that I cannot get loaded into my Genos or if I do get it in I get the error 'file not loaded properly' which only means you spent the money on and you can't use any of it dummy. Looking forward to your offerings and hopefully will be able to use them. Much success to you. Don in MI

Henni

Hi Don,

Thank you for your feedback. I offer a free pack with my styles for those who want it. As such:

1. Any demo ending with a red "Pck" uses voices from the pack.
2. Any demo ending with a blue "Std" uses standard onboard voices.

I have some customers who are not interested to install the pack and then order styles requiring voices from the pack. In every case I was able to modify the styles to use standard voices instead and everytime I was informed that it sounded GREAT.

In short: If you do not want to install a pack on your arranger, just inform me so when you order styles. I'll adapt the styles to use only standard voices instead.

I now already have customers using the following arrangers:

1. Genos with the pack.
2. PSR S970 with the pack.
3. PSR S970 without the pack.
4. Tyros 5 without the pack.
5. PSR S950 without the pack.

I have regular communication with all of them. They are all very happy with what they've received.

I hope this answer your query.

Keep well my friend,

Henni

Note: Actually the only voices I use from the pack are the singers - there is a male & female opera singer, three different female voices with vibrato at the end and two other choir voices. These can easily be changed to onboard singer voices, but it will sound slightly different off course.

Hi all,

I received the following email today from a Tyros 5 user:

Quote from: Tyros 5 userYesterday I was visited by a friend who is a Korg fan. He plays on a PA 3x. I once played him your styles. He was excited. His conclusion: He has never heard such beautiful harmonic styles of a Yamaha device. With this sound even a Yamaha keyboard would please him.

Keep well my friends,
