Could you suggest a style that suits the song Jesus to a Child from George Michael?

I have a hard time to find a style that fits that song.

Hi Rob,
I don't know if these videos can help you to find a style.
I would search for a style with words like R&B ballad,90's ballad, chillout etc
Have you used the tempo hold to easily move between styles without changing the tempo?

If someone can post a "K.I.S.S." midi of   "Jesus to a Child" from George Michael.
I will have a go at converting into a suitable style for you.
I Believe in the K.I.S.S. Principle.

There is no cloud. It is storage space
                     on someones computer.

Mikk

I have  one but it is not simple. It has embedded lyrics. That is a nuisance.

It is using 10 tracks. Will eliminate most then do conversion.

I don't know what a KISS midi is  :(
Is it a "rock band" midi with lots of colours ;D
Hope these 2 can help.
Sometimes I use the midi2style to extract parts and especially the drum parts of a song.

Hello Panos,

The second midi you attached is more suitable for conversion thanks.

K.I.S.S.  is short for the common phrase "Keep It Simple Stupid"

Thank you in advance Mikk and Panos!

just curious, i'm quite new to the genos, but you are saying that you can convert a midi file to a style? how do you do that, do you use specific software for that (which software), or does it work the same as on a korg pa4x where you just add the labels in a daw to make the style conversion ready?

Mikk

Now I am doing this mainly for my own benefit because I am learning to play and sing it using,  Kronos, Tyros 4 and Pa4x  together .

I have downloaded the original music (instrumental version, melody played by guitar) and now have it as a wav, mp3 and midi. Its a lovely version but maybe a bit too much echo.

I will be using "One Man Band Originals"  and "Reason" to play around with it
then experiment  with it on the Tyros 4, then  using a existing style as similar as poss and changing it to fit the music.
I also have run it through "Riff station" to get all the chords.

Also trying some of my own samples made with a Casio XW-G1 sampler synth.

Using the Pa4x program  to convert the tweaked midi to get a korg style(doesn't always work)  then onto EMC for another  tweak.

Now I call the rhythm for this music, a basic slow Cha Cha.

If any member has some extra, slow  Cha Cha styles  I would love you to
attach them to this Post,
Thank You,
from,
Mike.

Hi again guys,
you can easily extract the drum parts of any midi with midi2style.
Then you use the Assembly function to insert them to an existing style.
The keyboard will usually choose the standardkit 1 or 2 to play the drums.
I think it is the generic drumkit of Roland(?)  which windows have installed to play midi files or something like that.
If it sounds correct then you just use the Mixing console to equalize the part, add effects etc.
You can also choose another drumkit to see how it sounds.
If you need some extra notes(beats) or a drum sound is played by the wrong drum organ, you can go to style creator-edit menu and change the notes. For example from Ab1(hi hat sound ) to C3 (tom tom sound)
Then you use the Mixing console to equalize the drum part again.

If you wish you can take more patterns at once from the midi(bass, chord 1 & 2,pad,phrase 1 & 2) and some may work and some may not.
Sometimes you have to go to style creator-parameters ,make some changes there(tests) with the NTT-NTR etc and the part may work correctly to chord changes.
Then you use the Mixing console to change the part's voice, add effects etc.
But that takes time and luck of course.
For the parts that don't work or sound bad we can take similar patterns from other styles.

Just the drum parts of Mains are from a midi file:

Thanks for these tips, from you all, i've managed to find a factory style that suits this song from George Michael and i changed the OTS settings and some effect programming to more suit this song. It sounds great now. I've attached this style which is modified to this post, the OTS settings gives you two flavours, 1 and 2 are a guitar and flute with wet effects, 3 and 4 are the same sounds but then mixed with a much dryer sound if you prefer that sound.

The way i used this song:
- intro 1 + A for the flute intro
- Variation B and C for the guitar parts
- Ending 1 for the ending

Thanks for all your help, this is a great forum :)
