A Working Wireless File Transfer System Between Arranger and Computer

I have a smooth, usable system for transferring files from my s970 to my laptop computer without the need to plug/unplug USB drives. The picture shows a four-port hub which is connected to one of the arranger's USB-to device terminals. A limitation of the arranger is that at any one time, it only recognises up to two devices. A port on the hub is selected by a rocker switch, whereupon a blue lamp is switched on. The photograph shows that the two ports on the right-hand side are connected. This is my normal set-up when I'm using the arranger.

The USB-drive on the right-hand side is what I call my Workdisk. It holds the usual stuff that one creates when working on a song – registrations, Midis, .WAV recordings.

The white USB-drive contains my collection of  styles. This drive is switchable read/read-only. When used in the arranger it is read-only.

The black USB-drive on the left-hand side is a SanDisk Connect 32GB Wireless Stick. When connected to the arranger it acts as a normal USB-drive. When disconnected, it can use its internal battery to radiate its own built-in Wi-Fi signal. This enables my laptop to connect wirelessly with the stick and download whatever is required.

A typical procedure is:

I record a song on the arranger's USB recorder. This is held on the Workdisk. I switch the styles collection off so that I can switch on the Wireless stick in its place. I copy/paste the recorded song off the Workdisk onto the Wireless stick. I disconnect the Wireless stick from the arranger.

I press a button on the side of the Wireless stick which causes it to radiate its own Wi-Fi signal.

Then on the laptop, I disconnect its connection with my home Wi-Fi, and connect instead to the Wireless stick's Wi-Fi (easily done with a few mouse clicks). I can then use a browser on my laptop to connect to the stick and download the recording.

I have used this set-up for a few months now, and the Wireless stick doesn't seem to have a problem keeping itself charged.

It takes a lot longer to describe than to actually do.

Yes, this is exactly what I gathered the current crop of wireless USB sticks can do. The issue is that the volume (Storage space) of a drive can only be owned by one device at a time. So that is either the keyboard or your computer.

You elegantly solved this using what sounds essentially like a USB switch. It is workable but not as seamless as I want.

I want to see the USB drive as a network drive while plugged into the keyboard. Since my post I have received the hardware required to build a seamless solution. I post progress in this thread as I go.

It appears that SanDisk is no longer making/selling the "Connect" sticks in the U.S.   Wish it were not so!
Genos, ProTools, Cubase AI10, Win10,  BIAB-2022, Sibelius Ultimate, MixMaster, PRSUTI, StyleMagic, StyleWorks, and Baldwin SF-10 acoustic piano.

Still plenty of ads for various memory size versions in the UK, eg

https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Connect-32-Wireless-Stick/dp/B00ZCFYT5K

Mine is still working well. No more plugging and un-plugging.

Thanks, Alan.
However, that URL @ Amazon/UK shows it is "temporarily out of stock" which is what BestBuy, et al show here in the U.S.
