Hello Everyone.
Amazingly, I still have 2 original Tyros 1's - one for home and one for church.  I transfer settings and  registrations from home to church using the floppy.  Unfortunately the floppy drive at church has finally died and I understand they cannot be fixed?

So I am looking for a replacement.  Does anyone still own a Tyros 1 or Tyros 2 that they would like to find a great home for?  I would be so grateful for a donation, but of course will pay if reasonable.  My home model has a hard drive, so that would be preferable.

Thanks so much -

Hi Paula,

IMHO it will cost you approx. US$ 80,-- to replace your T1 floppy disk player.

Or, just move your hard drive between one keyboard and the other. It's not that hard to take out the drive, and put it back in.

Much easier to replace the floppy drive than to mess around with the hard drive.

Thank you - that's great news!  I was told they could not be repaired or replaced.  Where would I find a new floppy drive for the T1?  I don't know of any place locally who handles them or would be able to install one.  Or is it simple enough to install myself?

Also, would it be even easier to buy a new hard drive?
Thanks again.

It's just a standard floppy drive that you can purchase from any computer repair store for under $20.

Can you put a USB Emulator?

Seems worth the upgrade

Yes you can, but the vast majority of them had problems with being very, very slow and lots of hiccups when you least expected.

Paula,
Check out these youtube videos to see how to replace the floppy drive with the Tyros 1 Gotek USB SSD Floppy Drive Emulator.  There are several videos available for your guidance.

Hi,

I purchased an usb emulator from Aliexpress and did assembly last day. It works perfectly but i would like to ask something.

When the first startup we formetted 16gb memory stickl usb and it changed 1.44mb format. May we use 16 gb memory stick on tyros1. If possible, i can use only 1 quantity memory stick for all i need. Does anybody help me?

Unfortunately, when I looked to replace on mine all the information I found stated that the only format the T1 will take on an emulator is the capacity of the a FDD,

You have to google around a bit to find special software to format the usb drive .
This software will split the drive in many, many floppy sized parts.
I believe philscomputerlab has this on his site

There used to be a company called ipcas in Germany who had software.

Trail and error is the game with finding the right stuff!
Good luck
