Well, finally did it.  Ordered a 670 demo from Sweetwater today.  should have it next week b4 my birthday so you guys will be seeing a lot from me over the next couple of months while I adjust to the new rig.

It's basically the same operating system as the 3000, earl, but it has a few extras that you will have lots of fun with, especially the onboard audio recording system.

Good luck,

To me the biggest drawback of s670 is the screen is too small.

Yes Gary, I'm sure there will be new things I will enjoy on the kb.  Truth is my main concern is whether the unit will sound appreciatively better than the 3000.  I would think having the sff2 styles would be one huge upgrade!  Also, that classic guitar sound should be great on my country songs.  I am excited about getting it.  Still haven'tr learned everything I want to do with the 3000 but as you say the op is he same.

Earl, the sound engine is somewhat similar to the 3000, though the addition of the SA voices and the built in effects will blow your mind, especially with the guitars. You may have to do some initial tuning with the global EQ system right out of the box, but a little goes a long way with the newer keyboards. Keep in mind that the 3000 is still a workhorse of a keyboard and many are still in use today on stage by entertainers in my part of the country. The 3000 was very advanced when it came out and the sounds were a huge improvement over the 2000 and 740.

Good luck,

Oh yes,  Toril, wouldn't dream of parting with the 3000.  Might sell the 740 though.
